Exhaust leak question.

I have a Bassani modular x-pipe with High-flow cats that seems to be leaking where the cats clamp onto the pipe that comes down from the headders. Its not too bad once it gets warmed up but you can really hear it when its cold. Ive taken it to two shops and they both seem to think that the only way to get rid of the leak is by welding. One shop went as far as to say he had never seen a clamp on system not leak. Is this the case with anyone else who has pipes that slip over and clamp down? Is there anything that can be done or am I just being too ****?

Hey Chris,
You are definitely not being too ****. No one should have to listen to an exhaust leak on one these cars. I guess to answer your question I have to ask you a question. Are you happy with you present exhaust or do you think you want to change it? If you are happy with it and would not change it than go ahead and have it welded. If you don't like it and think you want to change it then I would not weld it yet. Your call!
