Check engine light just came on
Drving over to the dealership actually to talk about the revised gas tank situation and the message center flashed "failsafe engine mode" and the CEL came on!..WTF? car lost most all of its power so I shut it off at the dealership and then when I went to start it up again to bring it into the service department there was no message and no light...car seemed fine again!..I and the tech though may be just a glitch so I took it home and no problem....Well, just went to get some dinner and Voila!..."failsafe mode" and CEL again!...NO POWER!..Any ideas?...Guess I'll be dropping her off tomorrow for the first actual service visit
Haven't experience this w/ my 05 GT, but a friend of mine has a newer Corvette, and has advised on the Corvette forums this happens repeatedly on the Corvettes, and is normally a ground wire or a corroded connection at the battery.
It's crazy how sensitive these newer vehicles are becoming.
Hope this helps.

Probably not a terminal issue - just a sensor or something - could even be your gas cap not correctly installed! You would think the dealer could read it though - doesn't the computer store error codes?
that is f-ing crazy, not even 5,000 miles on these cars and they are acting stupid...
mine just triggered the service engine light-but I'm sure it is b/c I just hollowed out the catalytic converters, but my car has some serious problems after I get off the interstate (going about 70-80mph for a few minutes).
It starts bucking/loss of power when I try to accelerate...but doesn't trigger a light.
the dealer said if the light doesn't come on, then oh well...pretty much.

Sorry bout that and good luck getting things back to normal!! B)
Steal, what did the dealership end up doing about yours?..Replacing the coil packs on 3 & 5 or ?..I am dropping the vehicle off today to have them fix it or screw it up more, depending on how you look at it =)
if it's not related to the misfiring in the TSB post http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=16258 then I'd go to the dealer and whether or not the want to read the codes, tell them you want to do a drivability test. They'll put a lop top in the front seat, hook it up and catch it while it's happening instead of trying to read stored codes. If they bock, keep pushin'. I wouldn't settle for "can't help you."

update; Got my car back from the dealership and they replaced the "TP sensor" and reprogrammed the ECM with a GENII upload so they call it on the invoice.Seems to be fine now.Dealer said some vehicles may experience a voltage drop in the TP sensor and will cause the vehicle to go into "limp mode" and the CEL will go on..

Had my CEL on twice now. Once for a bad coil pack and another they said was just a bug in the system. Both times, the engine "powers down". I guess a safety feature.
