Custom Tuning....Does this sound right??
Well after much debate about which supercharger to go with, I originally decided on Whipple, but found a much better deal on the ProCharger kit HO kit. (yes i know the whole scoop about twin screw vs the other so I know everyone is going to voice their opinion about the different superchargers)
I called a reputable performance shop that does SCT tuning near me, has had his hands on about 10+ 2005+ mustangs and he quoted me an excellent price of $1200 for installation of everything, including gauges and gauge pod and all hardware fuel pumps, etc. now this is for the TUNER KIT because I already have an SCT so I'm going to stay with SCT. I asked him about Tuning, he wanted $400 for a custom tune!?!?
Is $400 for a custom tune seem a bit high??

there is one dyno shop by me who does custom tuning for $125 an hour, that seems reasonable, and shouldnt take more than an hour.....hmmm

Actually it doesn't sound like it is that far off...depending on who does it and how long they expect it to be on the dyno...I had my old set up tuned by Anderson Motorsports...it was around 2 hours worth of dyno time and probably a dozen or more pulls to get everything set up right. Mine cost me $500...maybe I was overcharged...I don't know.

If you can... buy the kit and install it yourself. It's a bolt-on, just a more complicated bolt-on... haha
as for dyno cost 400$, i have no idea.. as I've not had to do any custom tuneing yet... much less wiht a s/c.

Thats in the ball park of what my local tuner charges (see link in signature) He has a lot of experience and comes highly recommended so I think your quote is about right if it's a shop w/ a good reputation.
