Force Performance in Yonkers, NY said they would do a custom SCT tune for my 05 GT as well as install my CAI and give me an XCalibrator 2 for $500. They will tune it on a dyno until they get the Air/Fuel and everything else right as well as get some decent power out of it. I am real new to tunes and wondering if this is a good price or should I shop around elsewhere. Please help.

$500 includes everything including the custom tune time and the dyno time??? Thats a heck of a deal! I've been quoted for a custom dealer at $700-800 or even close to $1000. But for 500, sounds like a great deal.....

Sounds like a pretty good deal (as long as the tuner knows what he's doing).

I think SCT2 units run around $370 - $400. Dyno time varies by area, figure $80 - $100 per hour. Installing the CAI is a piece of cake (at least my C&L was), about 15 minutes. Also, using the SCT2 is really easy. Most SCT tuners provide 3 custom tunes to store in the SCT2 unit.

I can understand wanting local support, that was high on my priority was I was shopping. If you want to shop/compare and don't mind dealing with tuners not local to you, I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND Doug at BamaChips. He can provide you the SCT2 with SAFE and AWESOME Tunes.

Maybe some others will chime in with suggestions.

Yes, it includes dyno time...he said it usually takes about 2 hours and if I want he will install the CAI...which really either of us could do b/c it only takes about 15 min.

Where is Bamachips located? I am in Orange County, NY. I don't know a lot about tuning b/c this is my first time doing it but this guy sounded like he knew what he was doing with tuning the car.

BamaChips is in Alabama, the guys name is Doug. I just got my custome tune from him, X-Cal2 with 3 tunes for $350 bucks! Best deal and the car is outsstanding! Doug knows what he is doing. He will customize the tune for whatever fuel grade you run, and any other mods you have to the vehicle! My car runs great and I highly recommend Doug at BamaChips, but you better hurry, the X-Cal2 deal with 3 tunes ends today!

That is a great deal but is it as good as having them custom tune on a Dyno? Basically my setup is Bassani cats, x pipe and axle back plus the JLT CAI that I am going to add.

Doug has the calibrations for the JLT! He just confirmed that to me in his last email so I am going to go with him, especially after all the raving reviews of his tunes and great customer service. I am thinking/hoping that the sale he had that ends today gets extended because I haven't heard back from him due to the storm tromping through his area..... Stooopid storm......

Sounds like Doug is highly recommended. But it's hard to beat getting it tuned on a dyno for only $175 more. I'll have to think about it.
