Yes I did - for general everyday driving I felt I was missing out not having the manual (and I have driven autos for years - and suprised myself wanting the manual.....) so that's a good deal of the reason I sold the 05 and got the stick 06...

On the other hand, I ran the 05 at some events last year (FFW, NMRA at Bradenton....). If I was going to consistently run track events I would have never ditched the auto - it is too sweet for the 1/4 mile......

If all you will be doing is every day driving on the street, the manual is alot of fun.

If you will be doing lots of track duty, stick with the auto.

What hassles are you referring to? I never even touch mine.

And I haven't had to change a clutch yet.

I currently drive a stick... Always have. However, I would love to drive an auto with Doug's tune. If it shifts as good as people say it does, I could possibly change. I definetly feel more in charge with my stick though.

I'm jumpin on this bandwagon. With an auto your only scheduled service is to change the fluid and filter every 30k miles. ( Don ... you should change 5k the way you drive) It costs about 125 bucks for this service. What does a clutch install cost these days?

You can believe Old Man Stang! aka, (70MACH1OWNER).....and theres very few on this sight that beat on a auto! like don_w does! check some of his videos!! Actually the five speed auto with OD thats in the GT, can be a very versatile transmission! Its amazing what one can do as far up and down shifting with some practice!

My 1998 automatic 'Stang sucked. I was glad to ditch it for my 2002 stick model, and I swore I'd never buy an Auto 'Stang again. My 2005 is a stick and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything!

That being said, I'd love to drive Don_W's auto!! Talk about a kick a** automatic ride! Whooohoooo!!

Love my Auto

I also have an auto...and love it. Have Dougs 93 race tune with 3.73's and the usual mods. **** my car bangs gears fast. I have had two other Gt's over the years..both sticks...yes there is definetely some fun stuff you can do with a stick that you can't with an auto...but boy did i get sick of that stop and go traffic with my stick cars. Now i just stab the gas and hang on...i let the car do all the work...and it does it well!

Well, I made up my mind, I'm going for it. I have found an '06 silver one with a stick at a dealer about 15 minutes from me that has 5,800 miles on it, price is somewhere around 24-25k. I haven't worked out the exact numbers yet, but I gave them a small deposit to hold the car for me. When my '05 comes back from the body shop (had a wreck a few weeks ago) in a day or so I'll take it over there and we'll work the numbers.

well now I understand why you want to trade it in. I didnt know you wrecked it. Well as soon as I am in accident with mine that requires it to go to the body shop I may be trading in as well. I hate cars after accidents, usually are never the same. good luck with the stick, but I love my auto.

well in 100+k miles when there has been a couple 10 quart fluid changes, filters, gaskets, torque converters failing, transmission computers, broken bands, replacing clutch packs, burning power and fuel into having to spin two oposing fans to get moving... i dont know, they are just so much more complex, so many more parts to break. and i know all those parts arent garunteed to fail... but they still could especially doing a lot of burnouts like your doing in your avatar.

all i'll have to do in the manual, slap some gear oil in it every 30k (and at only 2-3 quarts worth) and throw a clutch at it when it wears out. and when i do, i can upgrade the clutch to a stronger unit, and put a lightweight flywheel in it. plus when i have my car out on a road course i can hold a gear. i just dont need my car to drive for me.

you guys that have autos, cool... just completely NOT for me

If you put gear oil in your Tremec 3650 you'll need a tranny before Don_W does...

Doesn't sound like a good deal. Go buy a new 07'! 29k MSRP - $2k off - $1500 Rebate is like 25.5. I would tell you to keep your Auto.
