It will be interesting to see the final product.

If what they say on their web site . . . . . (http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/05hvi.htm) is true (and no, I don't believe everything I read) . . . . the Chevy looking intake without the baking sheet is supposed to be good for "28 rwhp over the stock setup", with no tune.

Those are some tasty sounding cookies.

David,
To have the nitrous injection work correctly you must place the injector at the appropriate distance in front of the throttle body. This injector sprays in a 90 degree fashion and uses bottle pressure to help atomize the fuel injected at the same time. I.E. there are two fuels bieng injected N2O and in this case unleaded gasoline, they both spray out of the end of the injector but are to be aimed down your intake tube by turning the injector in the direction of flow. Take a look on a website by NOS or Zex and look at the injector or a fogger nozzle and it should make sense to you. To use the charge motion control plates as a source for injection would multiply the cost of your install by 8 times. You would need 8 injectors and about 16 lines, 8 for the fuel and 8 for the N20. This method is easier to control and is more predictable and less harsh on your motor if installed and operated correctly. It is similar to the precision and efficiency differences between throttle body injection and direct port injection.

You don't think there is enough room to install the injectors in this particular CAI?

I have doubts. If it is possible to mount the injector in the piping between the filter and the throttle body then yes it could be done, otherwise it looks to me from viewing the pics that the injector would need to be about where the filter is. That would be more trouble than it is worth trying to modify the filter and looking for places to route the lines not to mention the probable conflict with the length of the injector either coming in from the top or bottom. I won't say it is impossible but would take more trial and error efforts that I would be willing to try as well as who knows if the flow characteristics would work right mounting it in any other place than the intake tube.

As most have seen threads about the hoods dancing at higher speeds, there is quite a bit of air entering from under the hood. They have also put those two holes up front to bring in additional air. I don't see how it's to bring in air from behind the radiator.
Charge Motion plates or IRMC are below the plastic intake. The stock one's have a butterfly in them that are opened by an arm towards the back of the motor. The aftermarket just delete the butterflies. They're okay, but nothing special. I have them, but would probably not do them had I to do over again. They didn't have any gains or loss on the bottom end, but picked up 6 rwhp on the mid and top end. Here's a pic.
I was referring to the earlier pics that didn't have the heat guard/cookie sheet thing. Makes more sense with that in place. And you can always get some non-stick spray and make lunch!

Thanks! Its always good to learn more pieces of my car.

This covers the radiator, pulls air from in front of radiator not behind. Will draw air through the slots as well as just general air coming in from under hood. If you take off radiator cover now you will understand. As well as it is a prototype, so I am sure it will look nicer once finished. But I like chocolate chip.

I was hoping for a model with a Silverstone non-stick coating. After looking at the pic again first thing in the morning I thought "Pancakes anyone??"

The prototype "ram air box" doesn't appear to accomodate the prop rod yet...

OK, just got a reply from Shannon about the group buy and discounts. They are offering a tiered system discount and the units needed to reach the discount can be a mix with or without ram air. Just need three more people and we get 10% off. Please see below:

Hey Mike,

To do a true group buy we would need at least 5 units, this could be a
mix of intake with and without the ram air, that doesn't matter. For 5
we can do 10% off. If the group were to get above 10 units we could
offer a 20% discount. We don't have a price set for the intake with
ram air yet but should next week.

Looks like the site was down some on Sunday but all seems to be
functioning fine again now.

That's a generous discount on 10 ten units. I'll wait to see what they want for the bakeware before I make up my mind.

I think it looks pretty interesting, as long as the final product [radiator cover thing] addresses the prop rod holddowns, or at least if they say you have to change to the hood shocks...

Someone noted that the filter is "odd"... How would one go about replacing it when it gets dirty?

The filter is like a K&N in that you simply wash it, re-oil it and re-use it.

I would definitely be interested in the 10 person discount. Seems to me we should easily be able to find that many people interested. Thanks for doing all the legwork on this!

It looks like this intake would work with a Saleen blower which would be nice indeed!

No conversion to hood shocks needed. I confirmed with Shannon/WMS, the ram air retains the use of the prop rod in it's stock location. The cover will have a prop rod clip to secure the rod.

Thanks Dave, glad to help out fellow TMSers. RE: Pricing: WMS is still working out the final price. Will update. Currently WMS says no tune needed for intake alone. I will confirm if they feel a tune is needed with the addition of the ram air.

No prob Tom! RE: 10 person discount: we currently stand at three (3) definates including myself. We need ONLY 2 more to reach the 5 person group buy minimum for a 10% discount.
