I really like the looks of this setup... the power is amazing for no tune.

QUESTION:
WATER......

Because of its placement, how would this be affected by rain etc.
Is it in such a place that water could not get into?

Other CAI's are in a place where water would not get into, or the airbox has a drainhole.

Can someone ask about their rain testing?
Or am I just being paranoid....

Last thing anyone needs is hydrolock right?
..LOL....the last they need is hydrolock

I dont think your being paranoid. I for one, would think this was thier first concern in design for this "new" set-up. Rain could possibly get there. I may be mistaken, but I recall reading an older thread concering this, I just cant seem to find it right now.

Maybe someone will chime in that knows for sure, I would assume there are a few drain holes on the lower "box".Plus is still not a direct shot to the TB, the air has to travel through the grille, and up under the front support into the box...just my take on that.
------------------------------------

These 10 should have been claimed for by now w/ a release date this week.. , not to mention a few "out there"

Brings us good news blackhat

Yeah, I am thinking the same way...but I'd rather be sure.

I sent them an email today, and had no response yet.

I know when they test the Mach1 shaker, they litterally took a hose and sprayed water into it....make sure all the drains were working properly.

Pete,

That's a great question. I sent WMS an e/m this morning asking for status on final release/pricing as well as about the possibibility of water getting in there and so far no response.

05STG1,

That was my take on it as well, the intakes are tucked up underneath the hood overhang so a direct shot of wind driven rain would seem unlikely Perhaps puddle splash would get it?

Oh and I voted not to stripe.

You know the filter covers made by outfitters that they use on quads for K&N filters. One of those made for that might work in the winter time or spring when you know that you are going to confront rain. So you just slip it on and go. Its a micro mesh that dosnt reduse airflow and keeps out water when the filter get splashed.

That sounds like a good suggestion Robert

UPDATE: PRICING/RELEASE/WATER INTRUSION

OK, received EDIT: CONFIRMED pricing below, shipping starts possibly next week, water intrusion amounts to a 'mist'. See below:

UPDATE: PRICING CONFIRMED $449 intake w/ram

Hey Mike,

Price is not confirmed but we are thinking it will work out to $449 for
complete system with the ram air box. All the parts are supposed to be
done this week so we should be starting to ship them next week.

As for water it is not an issue. Some 'mist' when driving in rain will
get into the box area but because the area of the box is so large it
would take gallons of water to do damage, certainly not something rain
or hitting a puddle would do. You really would need to submerse the
entire nose of the car in water for this to be a problem.

Yep.

5 orders gets us 10% off, 10 or more gets us 20% off of either $369 for just intake or tentatively $449 intake w/ram. The group buy can be a mix of those just getting the intake or intake w/ram, doesn't matter.

OK all, PRICING CONFIRMED $449 for intake with ram air. WMS expects shipments to begin sometime next week. PLEASE PM ME IF INTERESTED IN GROUP BUY:

INTAKE ALONE: $369 before any discount

5 PERSON GROUP BUY DISCOUNT: 10% OFF
10+ PERSON GROUP BUY DISCOUNT: 20% OFF

Should this be a sticky?

Hey Mike,

To do a true group buy we would need at least 5 units, this could be a
mix of intake with and without the ram air, that doesn't matter. For 5
we can do 10% off. If the group were to get above 10 units we could
offer a 20% discount.
We don't have a price set for the intake with
ram air yet but should next week.

Looks like the site was down some on Sunday but all seems to be
functioning fine again now.

A "Stickey" would be nice! Do they have a picture of the final product with the air box too?

YES...please, a sticky til this is cleared up and going would be great. Would help with getting the 10.
------
My vote, lets go for the 10...I know there are some out there reading this and wondering....c'mon

Boomer,

The "mist" just might be a poor man intercooler...lol

300HPGT's idea for a pre-filter is a great idea for sure. That would be something to consider for anyone getting this. There's no restriction w/ them....great idea never seen them that large those..

blackhat,
OK...thanks for the work on this BH...and the vote..

Now that sounds like a great price prior to the discount, lets confirm that 449, and I think we could reach 10.I'll be in touch

They should be about $595 CDN for intake and ram air box, same group discounts would apply to Canadians of course.
Very cool.

For the group discount it would basically be:
475+shipping for the RAM Air + Intake

GREAT PRICE
