Check out this CAI
Glad to know you are still alive Mike! Have you seen any additional photos of the ram air box? I tried to do up a photochop of the CAI sitting in the box and it looked like cr@p. The cookie sheet seems way too big. I sure hope the production version looks a little better. I know the WMS guys come from a race background, but we want the engine to look good as well as perform. By the way, I think you'll find that Shannon is a dude. There's a photo somewhere on their website that shows a bunch of guys. One of them is Shannon.

WMS site UPDATED: 95mm MAF opt
No prob Bob!
Cool Bill, should the final ram air check out I'd say it looks real strong having enough for a group buy.
Just noticed on their site they added an option for a 95mm MAF:
"We do offer an option for a larger 95mm mass air meter but this should only we used with radically modified engines and will require custom programming."

UPDATE: NITROUS, HEAT:
Needless to say, Shannon ROCKS! I asked about working nirtous with this set up for those thinking about taking that route and about how effective the heat shield is pertaining to air temp. Her reply:

We have looked at nitrous install for these, it would be possible to
drill and tap the billet mass air meter near the forward edge and
install a 90 degree nozzle here. This would put it about 6" in front
of the throttle blades. Now we have not done any testing on this but I
think it is far enough forward for proper atomization.
The ram air box does isolate the filter from any hot engine air so
there is no 'fan wash' or hot air coming from engine compartment.
Basically the filter is sealed between the ram air box and the hood
with all the air coming in from the front of the car. In driving tests
at any speed above 45mph the air temp sensor (can be easily logged with
a Predator or SCT) will read same as the outside air temperature, this
is far better than any of the side mount intakes as they don't have a
direct feed of outside air.
For those who wonder where the air comes from the main area is between
the hood and grill - there is about a 1/2" gap under there and it is
38" long. The ram air box has 3 holes in the front of it as well, one
in the center and one on each side, air comes up through these holes
from the grill. In total there is 82 square inches of area for air to
enter the box. In contrast, the stock air box has less than 15 square
inches of area for air to enter it.

Newbie here. I have been reading up on this product for a few weeks, and I believe that if the ram-air box is a quality design, and sealed tight in the rear, they could have a good product here.
I like the discount for 10, so count me in if we reach that goal for the complete set-up, and w/ the proper relocation hardware for the reservoir coolant tank.
Five WILL be no problem, if the design is right.
They need the 10 go out, and have others see it first hand. In my opinion, theres enough air coming in the front to accomodate this set-up they are proposing.
As for the nitrous...dont drill a thing. All we need is a billet oval plate ~1/2-3/4 thick with bosses on the underside for various nitrous kits on the market...
Its been done before, I have one here for my Lighting, but the oval T-body is larger on the 05 ponies. It's better than drilling the tube, and the "wet" nozzle will be behind the TB, not in front...much better in my opinion.
Im a newbie here, but Im serious when I say Im interested in the GP for 10 complete kits,5 is not good enough...for them, or us. Feel free to add me to any list u have, here's my e-mail ROUSH408@netzero.com. If possible, feel free to email me if U need more information from me.
Thanks from a newbie, I could see the amount of work U have been doing for this...

Welcome 05STG1!
I emailed Shannon the other day concerning a tune for this CAI....here's her response. If this is old news....sorry.
Yes we will offer it as a package. Diablo is going to do a tune for us as soon as the ram air boxes are ready.

Hi Shannon,
I hope I'm not becoming a pest, but I have one more question. Will you be offering a custom tune with your CAI as a package deal?
Thanks,
Tom

Sounds like Shannon is getting ready to ship one off to Diablo for T&T. Probably wont take them that long to offer a program or two for this kit. It will be interesting to see what they have to say AFTER Diablo about the required tuning......to be continued...
I personally feel that this will require a tune, but thats just me. Gather your parts boys, and strap them down on the dyno for the proper tuning. I'll get my Predator or SCT elsewhere....IMO

Lets get 10 of these going,c'mon folks, step right up and give it a try

Hey Joe! Yep still kickin and we're still in limbo land waiting on the final product/pricing to be released. I haven't seen anymore info or photos on this yet. I think you're right about Shannon.

05STG1,
WELCOME! Yep Roush fan, #97. Although I'm not sure if I want to follow him to Penske and become a Blue Deuce fan. Got ya added to the list of possibles. It'd be great if we reach 10 for the 20% off discount!! First it was just the intake, then the intake with ram and now a package with a Diablo tune too. This is getting more expensive all the time.. c'mon guys, let's hit 10!
Tom,
I think it would be cheaper to get everything as a package vs gathering the parts and tuning on a dyno as 05STG1 suggested, however, from what I read in another thread (I'm a newbie when it comes to these mods too) some folks feel to get the full benefits of a tune one needs to use a dyno rather than simply reflash the computer using a package tune(i.e. Diablo).

For the 05's, I don't think you'll see super savings on any package deal. Most of the package deal's I've seen broke down in line with purchasing seperate. Maybe $2 or $3 savings, but nothing earth-shaking.

For some, why not, sure it would. The "tunes" that come with a air-kit, gets U in the the ball park, and U adjust from there.
I have access to a local tuner, so I will take advantage of that, but I may but the one w/ the kit, depending on the price...

Thanks for the welcome
99 fan here, long time Burton fan. That deal was a dissapointment, but had to happen. Thank god for Carl Edwards....whewwwHey BH97, I think it would be better for them to come up with their price now, the sooner the better. People need to know, want to know before deciding, and in all reality, the price on the first 10 should be a very good discount, not a pre-production mark-up, only to come down again....watch for that...20%...20% of what ..lol

I say they need to throw a price out there now, lock down the 10 @ that quote, get that product out there should be tops for them.
And if their product is the real deal, they wont have a problem with upping the price, it would be worth it to them....IMO
Im sure their reading this thread

Remember...its a new product, people are sceptical, theres plenty of ponies out there to make the millions on

Well, if the ram air brings the price up let's say from $369US to around $450 US then at 20% off for 10 or more that'd be a $90 savings. Which would be like getting the ram for FREE with a $9 savings to boot!!! C'mon guys let's hit 10 or more units!

It's Hard for some to lock in without a definitive price, even for 10 w/out a release date.Usually there are a couple of products "out there" to help spread the word of mouth..I dont see that here in this case, maybe Im wrong
Would have been nice to test one at ATCO this weekend on the ROUSH car ....times' a wasting. I'll wait for another update
Tick,tock,tick,tock...:)
I really like the looks of this setup... the power is amazing for no tune.
QUESTION:
WATER......
Because of its placement, how would this be affected by rain etc.
Is it in such a place that water could not get into?
Other CAI's are in a place where water would not get into, or the airbox has a drainhole.
Can someone ask about their rain testing?
Or am I just being paranoid....
Last thing anyone needs is hydrolock right?
