Assuming you would need a tune, how much HP will charge motion plates add ?

They are $279 on the Steeda web site. So that's about $46.50 per hp not counting shipping of the part and labor if you pay someone to put them on.

They went up a week ago, but I did still see some on Ebay for the 249 price after they increased so you may look there. From what I seen the HP rating has been around the 6-8 rwhp and torque like posted above. I hope to be installing mine this weekend and you will need a retune with them.

Thanks Mike

I was going to do this then I read where you loose torque on the low end and and gain it on the top end. I changed my mind. I know Foed is much smarter than myself so I will leave some things alone. Why not just manualy open the butterflies wide open and find a way to keep them there? Is this not the same as what the replacement plates do? No butterflies at all. I wonder if the computer gets any feedback from these plates. Anyone know?

Bill, Here is a link that shows my dyno chart. The green line is my pull from a few months ago. The red line is my baseline pull yesterday with the new exhaust and headers. The blue, peak/top line is all mods except with the plates added. The plates just allow more air flow. Hope this answers your questions a little more.

Where did you read you lose torque? This is not like the old 96-98 Cobras or Taraus SHO's. They had daul runner manifolds(or at least I think that is correct,it's been awhile), and the Cobra had a poorer designed head and cam(s) package. This just blocks the flow to one valve depending on throttle position and rpm. From what I understand the plates are there more for emission purposes. I'd like to see some proof of this as everyone that I have talked to has noticed no change in low speed torque. Do some more research on it. Oh and sometimes Ford has to do things because of emissions/mileage and not power. Hence that honeycomb in your intake

Thanks Mike

The emissions issue is the only reason I havn't installed them yet. I am very tempted to take the chance. They WILL affect emissions, but I don't know if the effects are enough to fail or not.

Mike I read this over on Stangnet. Not sure which thread but do know it was a TECH thread.

I agree, it doesn't top the list of "best investments" I' ve made in my life.
But, either does buying a new Mustang GT.

I agree with you too Paul. Before, I decided I was not going to go with them due to cost vs. hp gains. I just wasn't sold on them. After my dyno run, I figured I might as well, since I had done just about everything else. It's just a small expensive piece to the puzzle.

My opinion after seeing some data are that these aren't wort the time and hassle to install them. It would probably take me 2+ hours to install these the first time. That's not worth it for 6 rwhp, nor $250 . I would rather invest the money in suspension mods.

Bill - I too read this - someone had installed them and said the low end torque/drivability suffered a bit - but nothing he couldn't eventually live with....that's when I decided that the gain's weren't worth it (at least for now) as drive-a-bility/passing emissions is more important (to me) than a small hp increase....now having said all of that - I am encouraged to see others going this route - so we can benefit from their feedback as well....may have just been the one guy's set up - you never know.

Someone on this forum made the comment that it affected low end torque, "but, nothing that 4.10's won't handle". Just from memory. 169stang' numbers don't show that.

Anyway, if I run into problems or not, I'll post my situation. I ordered them this morning.

Paul - too funny just couldn't stand not having any more mods to do...I know the feeling and will probably end up eventually getting them too
