C&L Install Problem

C&L Install Problem
I need help! I can not seem to install the air shield for the filter. It does not seem to fit. It doesn't even fit around the inner fender well very well. So the hole for the bolt tie down does not match. Is it possible that I have the wrong air box? Any help is appreciated.

Don't worry about it's loose fit, once you close the hood, it'll have a nice tight fit.
Could C&L have designed this heatshild better? Of course! But they didn't, so we just have to make it work.

Ok, I got it in. I really had to force it but it worked. Maybe it was just me not sure.
Wow, after the C&L and Brenspeed tune. That car is kicking. I can't believe how much differenc that made.

Looks like mine. I just used the one bolt to secure the heatshield, did not use the zip ties (the 2 holes in front), looked cheesey IMO.

That is why I wouldnt use a C&L even though evryone says it's one of the best I always read stuff about poor desing and cheap fit with the C&L and the JLT so I guess I dont understand the attraction. Granted they all have thier issue's but If I'm gonna pay top dollar for it all the bolt holes should line up properly and whats with the zip ties???? Even my airraid matches what its supposed to to mount properly. I have to admit I have thought about changing my CAI to Steeda(cosmetic reasons mostly the reddish filter doesnt match under my hood lol) but I certainly wouldnt pay 350 for a product that doesnt fit right.
Sorry for the hijack I'm at work today and just had to rant about something today for some reason lol

Mike, I agree, it's the heatshield design that's the weak point, the CAI itself fits and performs perfectly.
My K&N was well designed, but fell short in performance. That's the reason why I stepped up to the C&L Racer.

The heat shield was the only thing that did not fit right. Everything else worked out great. I understand the work thing and wanting to vent at something a little. No problem!

I threw in the JLT because Ive heard people mention the cheap heat shield guess it's not really a fitment issue with that. But again just a rant probably somewhat off base but still, if the guy cant get the holes to line up properly that sounds like an issue that shouldnt arise with whats regarded as the best available thats all. Man next week I bring my flame retardent suit LOL.....Richard is just hammering me left and right today

the heat sheild it came with is amazing, granted its plastic, but how good does it get really?
