Now that's why I said "similar". If you clicked my link and read the post, I certainly didn't experience what felt to be a loss in power. What I experienced was a large decrease in mileage, and a very uneven application of power. I just wasn't running right

The battery being disconnected combined with a Predator update and reflash completely cured it immediately.

If you don't have a tuner, either disconneting the battery or just letting the car figure it out over time will probably work too.
I am experiencing the same. Something just doesn't "feel" right in the power bands on acceleration. I also have noticed about a 1.5 to 2 mpg decrease. I thought it was the way I was driving it or something so I took it real easy on the GO pedal with no improvement in MPG.

I disconnected the battery for now left it off overnight before I went in. Drove the beater today so I'll connect the battery when I get home and see if it improves over the weekend.

The CAI and tune are supposed to be on their way. If the battery thing doesn't help then hopefully it will.

Hi All,
I just fitted my Borla axle back system yesterday. It sounds awesome, it's so musical and not too boomy. In my opinion it makes the Mustang sound like it should do. Mine crackles and pops on coming down from a rev up to red line. Awesome, can't fault it.

But...

The car has lost a whole ton of power!? The car has lost it's sparkle, it willingness to rev, and it doesn't scare me anymore. I swear it's like someone just wiped 60 Bhp off the slate, it's that bad.

Now, I have read that some people have had to reset their computers in the car to re-learn the fuel trim, etc. When I fitted my exhaust I did not do this. Do I have to do this, or can I leave my car as is and just let it learn the new exhaust breathing?

Has anyone experienced this problem, and in the end, was everything ok once the computer has re-learned?

Cheers
Dazza
I had the same problem when I put my Loudmouths on . . . . . it took the thing over 200 miles to get back to normal after I did a battery disconnect .

Hmm...I'm a bit concerned now. I'm not planning on getting the computer 'tune' for a while. Think I should just disconnect the battery or do the wait?

Slap 'em on and see what happens, if you're down on power you have two choices . . . wait and see if it recovers or disconnect the battery and wait until it recovers.

Install of my JBA's did the same thing. Took four or five days for the computer to readjust after disconnecting the battery. Go for a long drive. Go visit somebody you don't even know Be a little patient.

You can even go visit someone you don't even like.

Its worth it to get your car back to normal.

This car is very sensitive to any changes that are made to the intake or the exhaust. Heck I put a locking gas cap on and had to reflash the cpu.

I reconnected the battery and took it out for a short run. There is still something not quite right but can't say for sure till I do my daily commute run because there is an uphill freeway ramp and I always hammer it as I'm merging on.

Like I stated before hopefully the CAI and tune will take it out or it will work itself out while I'm driving this weekend.

 From my experience unless you went through the drill in the owners manual for a "battery disconnect event" and consider a "short run" 200 plus miles . . . . you ain't gonna get the perfomance back any time soon . . . . JMHO

I drive that far to save a dime a gallon on gas. But sometimes when I get to my favorite station, they are higher. But it was a fun drive!!

You guys know that those numbers in the magazines are from full exhaust systems not just axle-backs. Those systems didn't use the stock midpipe.

Well he didn't mention what magazine either. But the MM&FF issue that started with the axle backs then went on to X-pipes and then headers in the next issues specifically stated they were working with a completely stock system other than a modified airbox.

I dunno what he's talking about

On page 102 at the bottom it says "The MagnaFlow exhaust came with mid-pipes that connected the mufflers to the factory H-pipe. All the other systems we tested connected to the factory mid-pipes."

That doesn't mean anything really. Its like a Borla axle back VS Borla catback.
