I've been running Doug's tunes with my Steeda CAI, for well over 2 years now. And couldn't be happier with my Mustang's performance.

I also guarantee you'll feel the same way, and will not be disappointed.
Did you have a Steeda tune, and then switch? Was it that much of a difference?

I put the Ford Racing CAI in my 08. The unit is beautiful, fits perfectly and gives you a changeable filter. It is the same unit as is used in the Bullitt. The tune isn't very aggressive -- but it meets CARB if you have to have a smog test.

Lee, I first started out with the Steeda/SCT canned tunes, and although it was a noticeable improvement over stock. They did absolutely nothing for getting rid of the stock, drive by wire throttle lag along with those annoying hanging idle issues, during deceleration.

Shortly after becoming a member of TMS. I discovered how great Doug's tunes are, and shortly afterwards. I contacted Doug about his tunes to find out if they were also able to improve my overall throttle response. And prior to purchasing his tunes, he sent me his 93 Torque tune via e-mail, to try out for free.

Never the less, shortly after trying out his Torque tune. I was so amazed by my improved throttle response, that it seemed like I almost had a throttle cable again.

Needless to say, that was all it took to convince me that Doug's tunes, are simply second to none. So I went ahead and proceeded to purchase Doug's 93 race tune, and when I had asked him what I owed for the 93 Torque tune that he let me try out. His exact words were, the 93 Torque tune is your's to keep.

Now that's what I call real customer service. That being said, I've been a very satisfied customer for well over 2 years, and have no intentions of turning back.

Thank you so much for the help. It looks like I will definitely be changing over.

That's incredible that Doug gave you a tune for free. Doug rocks!

I'm glad that I was able to help Lee. As I previously mentioned, you definitely will not be disappointed with Doug's tunes.

And yes indeed, Doug rocks !

Steeda CAI install finished, but will have to wait for seat-of-pants dyno run as the roads are wet tonight and I don't want to total my car...

From what I've heard you really can't go wrong with any of the CAI's mentioned. I've heard great numbers from the Steeda, but I've also heard that the Bullitt CAI has the best seal when the hood is closed since some of the hood liners have a spot marked for it. What is the size difference between the Steeda and the Bullitt? And for those with the C&L or JLT, how good do you think the seal is when the hood is closed? I like the look of the Bullitt CAI, but when I get my CAI I'd like to get it as a package with the tuner.

IIRC, the MAF size for the Bullitt CAI, is 83mm. However the MAF size for the Steeda CAI, is 90mm.

As for how good the seal, when the hood is closed ? I've had no sealing issues with my Steeda CAI for well over 2 years now, and the seal continues to remain nice and tight.

The airaid seals good also. I guess that if you prefer the smooth intake tube look over that of the bullit then it is an option. What does the bullit intake cost?

When i asked Brent from Brenspeed about what CAI intake makes the most power he said they were all about even with his tunes.
I have the S&B intake with the 93 tune and the car runs great.

Interesting. I thought the weakest part of the Steeda air box was the trim that I got with it. All it appears to be is something to keep you from cutting yourself when you're working near it. But since I'm not under the hood, I can't vouch for it's sealing ability. Maybe they changed the design .

As far as I know, Steeda hasn't changed the design. But I can definitely vouch for it's airbox sealing ability, as there's slight indentation marks in my stock hoodliner, from the airbox's rubber seal trimming.

I can also vouch, that my Steeda CAI along with my bamachips 93 race tune, and Steeda UDP's made 293 RWHP on the dynojet !

For the money and performance, can't beat JLT. Looks great too, and can get it color matched to your car. No other cai can offer that.

SOP dyno says that THIS KICKS ***!

I am driving a different beast...squealing tires through first and second was never a problem, but now when cruising in second you can just step into it and the wheels will spin! And what can I say about the sound, it's like the dogs of hell are under the hood growling at me...

However what the JLT doesn't offer, is a heat shield that seals properly. Whereas the Steeda's heat shield does !

I datalogged my IAT when I had a JLT and found that this really wasn't an issue. Sure, sitting still in traffic the temps would rise, but after driving forward a few seconds, the temps dropped to within a few degrees of ambient. So maybe off the line you will loose a couple of horsepower, but coming off the line I usually have too much horsepower and am worried about spinning. I guess if you're at the track and have slicks, you want everything you can get. But yes, the Steeda has a better heat shield than JLT. I think I could make my own heat shield with a small black plastic trash can, some gasket material, and a dremel, and still come out cheaper than a Steeda, and seal just as well. It'll probably look pretty bad though, HA!

Now if you really want a heat shield, get a KB supercharger. It relocates the entire air filter outside of the engine compartment behind the front bumper, below and in front of the engine. And given that heat rises, I'd say that's pretty shielded.

I just popped the hood to check, and the Steeda does have a nice tight seal. The top of the heat shield is contoured to match the hoodliner, and the rubber seals tightly against it.

Very interesting Brad, looks like the KB supercharger may just be what I'm looking for, down the road

I couldn't agree more.
