The stick would be faster if you know how to launch and don't miss a gear. I raced four other GT'S at the local dragway, they were all stick's, but I beat every one of them because they apparently did not know how to drive them in at the strip. It takes alot more practice and conscentration then an auto.

With my mods and a full throttle launch with no traction all the way through 2nd I still logged a 5.5 second 0-60 time, this was without nitrous by the by. Not too shabby. I finally caught as 2nd changed to third and hit 60 so my record is correct.

That's why you ease into it.

Um, the point is clear, the power is there but traction is limited due to stock tires. Its not like I didnt want to spin the tires, I was having fun and wanted to see what it could do with very limited traction.

Apparently this concept is lost on you. Dont treat me like I dont know any better. :P

I have a G-Tech meter I play with from time to time. The space I have I can't really do a quarter mile run, since the space is not level or straight for that much distance. However, I have more than enough for 0-60 runs just for the heck of it. When it was stock, I was getting to down to 5.04 seconds on an excellent launch with a just on time shift to second. If I had less than ideal traction or a too early shift to 2nd, it was in the 5.3 to 5.4 range.

Now that I have made my mods, I tried it a little one night. I only made three runs as I was having great difficulty getting a good launch, and a proper shift from the automatic into 2nd since there was so much wheel spin through first. On my last try, I got a very good launch, with tires spinning all the way to the 1-2 shift that came too early again. Despite that, I hit 60 in 4.89 seconds. I decided I needed to wait till it was a bit warmer so I could get better traction. It was about 20 degrees, and when it is that cold my traction on dry pavement suffers at WOT. I may try to manually shift it next time too so that there will be no premature shifting. I think 4.75 will be possible under ideal conditions.

Or you could set the WOT shift points to a certain RPM, the idea of the auto is that you dont use your shifter during spirited driving. The SCT Tuner is your friend.
