Hi All,
I have a C & L CAI with Predator 93 octane tune and am running an auto transmission. My question is simple. Has anyone got this setup that has modified the shift firmness of their auto transmission. I am thrilled with the performance gain with the CAI and Predator 93 tune and am ready to play around alittle with the tuner. I am wanting to firm up the shifts and want to know what to expect and how far to go from someone that has already experimented with this area. Any suggestions and results?
Thanks Scott

You cannot currently firm the shifts yourself by any means. This can only be done by a diablo programer. DTP did the tune for my JLT and auto and the 1st to 2nd shift is very firm, it lunges.

Hi Dan,
The instruction book says in the modify parameters sections there is an area to firm up shifts for the auto. Are you saying there is nothing there. I have not actually hooked up the Predator to the car yet to see what it says. Thanks for the reply.

All it let's you do is change the shift RPM. BUT the interface for that is pretty kludgy as it aks for shift points in mph.

Like Cleveland said the only access to "firm" up your shifts is through the software a Diablo dealer has and most likely involves backing off the torque management a bit.

Another note... that firmer shift translates into what I believe would be a faster ET in the 1320 and a huge grin on my face eachtime it shifts or I shift to 2nd.

Hi Dan,
Is the change between 1st and 2nd strong enough to chirp the tires? Is that the only difference you can detect in all of the gear changes?

It isnt quite enough to chirp the tires but it still pulls hard.

No issues what-so-ever, I could imagine chirping the tires with a corrected rear end and 1 more performance mod though.

I have the C&L with the sct xcalibrator, an auto with a custom tune from Alternative Auto Perfromance. It is unreal I get a GOOD chunk of rubber going into second (with the tcs on) and if the stars are in alignment it will chirp 3rd. The grin doesn't leave my face to often.

over the weekend i went for a ride in Lidio's auto 05,the mods are near identical to what he's done to mine with a manual trans, after reading everyone having week shifts in their autos,i was blown away on the ride! His car pulled through the gears and was solid at shifts and recovered well,he suprised me the combination mods and tuning, made me wish i had got an auto.I know the tune he uses is the result of endless testing and tweaking every part of the power band not just peak, and hes never satisfied so its a work in progress. So i'm just sayin with a good tune, the solid shifts should no longer be an issue

I wish DTP would get together with Alternative then and get a better auto tune for the JLT setup I already have. Perhaps Alternative would modify the DTP file that I have for better auto trans characteristics. I want chirping, my 69 sportsroof did it all the time after I got a new torque converter and shift kit.
