I've had my Flowmaster American Thunder axlebacks since May, and last week I noticed an ear piercing metallic/vibrating noise coming from the right muffler. It kept getting worse, and at first I thought it was my Prochamber or some loose connections, but checked them all, and they were all tight. Then I called Flowmaster and they were really helpful in trouble shooting it. One of the welds must have popped loose on the baffling inside of it. So now they are sending me a brand new one free of charge!! I put my stock mufflers back on for now, and they dont sound too bad with the Prochamber. A lot more quieter than my Flows....but it sounds pretty good.

Has anyone else experienced this problem??

Called them, I am covered under warranty and they are sending me a replacement kit! My god I was wondering what that rattling was, thanks for giving me the heads up, also it seems there's a lot of defective 05 Mustang Flowmaster kits, cause every Flowmaster dealer is aware of the problem!

No problems like that here, but it sure is nice to hear that they stand behind their product if problems do arise.

From the dealer I got it from, he told me to send both mufflers in.

I have no doubt Flowmaster is a great company, but this seems to be a more common problem recently. I think their quality might be slipping a little. Had it happen to a set on my Chevelle a few years ago. I have a set on it again now though and pushing about 700hp through them, so we'll see how they hold up. They sure sound mean!

This is happening to me. It just started rattling recently. It started when it really got cold out. It's happening in my left muffler though, not the right. MikeM got under my car and confirmed it. There isn't anything loose inside when you bang on it. It rattles really loud though at exactly 3500 rpm. It sounds like dog poop.

I'll call Flowmaster tomorrow. I hope they don't ask for a receipt because I got them used. In the previous owners defense, I didn't notice any rattle until just recently. I don't think they were given to me with the problem.

I don't think I've had this problems. It seems as though it's a very apparent sound and the only excess sound I get right now is the trumpet at 2500... i think.

did you deal directly with Flowmaster or did you have to go through your vendor? Did they ask for a receipt? How did it work?

Hey Dustin, I called Flowmaster direct and they asked me for my receipt. I bought them online, so I simply printed off the order confirmation/receipt from the vendor and faxed it to Flowmaster. Pretty painless. They didnt even ask for the old ones back.

I'm not sure how it works since you bought yours from someone else. I know they were very helpful and cooperative so they might possibly ask you to return them or something. Or maybe you can work a deal with the person you bought them from as long as they have the original receipt.

I'm going to try to work that angle first. I'm trying to see if I can get it before I call Flowmaster.

Dont be worried Torrence.

When I talked to Flowmaster, they said one of the weld parameters were off, and the problem has been resolved.

Most likely guys that have had the same problem reoccur after getting another set probably got one with the same bad welds.

hole shot,

I bet you once they send you the new kit, they will ask you to box up the old ones and send them back to Flowmasters and send you a UPS sticker to put on the box when its boxed up, I've had to do that 3 times already for Flowmaster
