Any reasons why you would not get a CAI
Guys,
the time has come ... to buy one, before I pull the trigger and give doug a call is there any reason why you would not go down this route
I assume that you have to take it off, reprogramme and then drive 50 miles before going for service / state inspection. Anything else that I need to way up before I call the man
Thanks in advance

If I had it to do over I would get the C&L racer intake. I don't like how the aluminum tube gets hot on the street version, it will stay that way for hours after the car has been turned off. It probably won't hurt anything but you might as well get the kit with the bigger MAF sensor.
These things are easy to take off if you are worried about it.

That's true... But if you can't do the supercharger right away that the CAI and tune can give you a lot of fun in the mean time. And, while you won't get all of your money back, you can still sell it when you get your super charger. And look at all the fun you had!

WARNING! DO NOT install a CAI if you want your car to improve in throttle lag and performance! BTW the JLT intake IMO is still the best bang for the buck out there!

Maybe if I were doing an extended stay at the local 'institution' I would have to pass. Otherwise no way would I not do it. Then again, I am sure I could get someone on the outside to put the CAI on... Then with my one phone call a month they could just drive it around with the phone out the window.

Don't get on the poster's case for reviving a topic sometimes it can be hard to search for answers to your questions. If you don't like it then you don't have to respond to it, there are people willing to help even if it is more then once.

I haven't bought one yet becuase I feel if you just want to drive the car you don't need it. I'm not a racer or 1/4 mile runner so I thought I would just end up being disapointed anyway with it so I haven't bothered to get one yet. OK, so you make an extra 20 horsepower at 6000 rpm, I don't think that's going to win you any races. I'd like to drive a Mustang GT with a CAI and tune in it before I made my decision but I don't know of anybody here in CT who has the setup and would be willing to let me take there car out for a spin. So the only money I invested in the car was a set of flowmaster mufflers so I can hear the rumble of that overhead cam V8. I don't have a CAI on my car and I still like the car and love driving it.

Please pay attention... no one said anything to the original poster. The responses were directed to a side comment about plastic vs aluminum.
