$51,934 Saleen S281 runs 13.2@110 what a joke
this is the new supercharged 400 hp s281 (june/05 car and driver) You gotta be kidding me. Save your money. You could have your choice of almost any body kit installed with better fittment than most saleen kits I've seen come out of the factory lately and the hood wouldn't be flapping in the wind at speed, quote from c&d;" Despite being a double skinned (and presumably quite stiff)molding the vented hood quivers and jumps as you drive along its spasms suggesting you might not have closed it poroperly" some nice wheels, and a suspension kit ,some interior upgrades and then throw in a KenneBell with all the options and I guarantee it will run faster than a 13.2 and youll have a better car and money left over .Oh but wait you wont have that wonderful Saleen warranty the one that still has not repaired my buddys rear bumper where the missalligned pieces came in contact with the hot tail pipes and melted into a big goo or that exclusive number on the front bumper. I love my 05 Mustang GT and I like some of Saleens 05 styling ques but its waaaay over priced. Back in the 80's I owned 3 mustang GTs and I loved what saleen was doing to the mustangs back then But in todays world a $50,000+ car a mustang is not and was never meant to be. But to each his own (just my 2cts)
Well first off I would never consider even buying a 50 grand MUSTANG. Now don't get me wrong I love Mustangs, but that price is just rediculous. I would not even think twice about a Vette, or used Viper over a 50k Mustang.
Bad track conditions were to blame, they explained this in the article. They also mentioned that the Saleen will walk an 05 at speed. Overpriced, might be. Slow? Heck no. Hood shakes...well there is nothing new there. The body kit might not be my cup of tea, but I would love to have that supercharger and a full/extendable factory warranty.

I also think that C&D previously stated that the 05 GT went 0-60 in 5.8......... We all know that's not true.
I don't trust their numbers.

I think a lot of people want to believe that the Saleen hood with the vents will stop the hood dances.....I know if I were to spend that money on a Mustang, I would for sure not want to have that problem. With an extra $20,000, you can do some major work on the new '05. I like a lot of the Saleen design work, but I think some things are rushed to market. Please don't get me wrong, I like the Saleen look, just not the potential performance that could be there. Few of us, however, even if given the money, would have the time to make it right. It's a completely new car and it won't be hurried. All in all, I thnk they did a comendable job. I hope they keep working their project!

Just depends on what you want to spend your money on I guess? My bike was 8k and it runs 10.6, so I could say 27,000$ for a mustang that only runs 13.5?
