Someone on here had Ford Racing 4:10s and swapped them for Motives (less expensive). He said they were even better than his Ford Racing set. I think it was 169STANG. But doesn't install make a huge differance. Your average run-of-the-mill shop might not give you the best outcome. Isn't this true???????

You guys just have to remind me don't ya
When I took out the FRPP 4.30's to put in the 4.56's, we notice that they looked identical, besides the actual gearing. Dug a little deeper and another shop told us that FRPP makes everything up to 4.10 and Motive makes everything FOR FRPP above 4.10. I am beginning to believe that 1. No gear means crap if it's defective, no matter what make 2. No gear means crap if it's not installed properly!

Based on what people have told me and from looking at the 2 sets of gears-not seeing a difference. As far as the type of material they use, I haven't a clue. The gears look identical in shape but they may use a different material to make them. My buddy called some people he knows and they told him what I said.

I couldn't find a shop around me to install them for less than $500 for labor alone. So, $600 isn't too bad. $500 seems to be the national average for gears and install.

I had 4.10's in my AUTOMATIC GT for about 4 months, they felt great driving around town and it did have nice torque. My gas milage stinked and that was an issue for me. At the track, with street tires? No difference in times, it all came out in the wash. I couldn't hook up to save my life with that gear. Switched it back before I had the M/T's so I don't know what it would do with drag radials. For me, I'm happy with the stock gear, and when I go with the lower profile tires later it'll end up like I have a 3.55 in it anyway.
IF it wasn't a daily driver, I'd have left the 4.10 in and went slicks for the strip, but I'm not Gates and can't afford it.
With the C&L and Xcal2 it's plenty fast now![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
