Don't you loose some top end with 4:10's over 3:73's???

What you lose is gas mileage, because you're constantly spinning at a higher RPM, you don't neccessarily "lose" top end power, but your powerband has shifted RPM's.

johnbleakleyforddotcom is the cheapest fordracing dealer I have found. Saved tons of money compared to ford racing site. I havent seen anyone selling cheaper, I would be surprised if anyone can price match them on ford racing stuff. Good luck to all.

373's are the chit, LOL

I have heard that autos need the 3.73 and that 4.10 are too tall. IMHO

While we're on the subject, what is meant by 'tune' in the sense that it is connectd to the pcm? How do you tune a pcm and what do you tune it for. Do you tune it whether or not any intake or exhaust has been modified?

when i asked doug from bamachips about getting 4.10's, this is the reply i got.

"...I've had a 3.31, 3.55 and 4.10 in my own personal car and I stuck with the 3.55. The 4.10's are too much for it as it makes the 2-3 shift horrid. The top end is fine and the daily driving aspect is still good but the gearing in the transmission is very close for the 2-3 shift and when your car shifts into 2nd with a 4.10 it only goes back to around 5300-5500 rpm's @WOT and then shifts into 3rd and goes down to 4500 rpm's and does so for the other shifts too. So you are in 2nd for such a short time that is feels like the transmission is slipping from 1-3 rather then shifting from 1-2-3. I would recommend at the most going with a 3.73 but no higher from my stand point. "

Did you need more gas per milage now?
Two reasons why I haven't done 4:10s yet. 1) I like driving the autobahns at hi speeds. 2) There's absolutley no one in Germany I would trust installing gears in my car that will be around as long as me. There is one guy, but he's leaving before me. I sure as hell wouldn't trust any shops. I'm sucking it up for three more years.

from my understanding specially if your car is a automatic. You want to reflash your pcm to correct the shift points of your car with the NEW gears

Why is that so? The manuals are a bit shorter than the autos...so it should be from the logical way 3,73 for manuals and 4,10 for autos...not your way...or am I wrong?

As someone who has 4.10s and an auto (for about 21,000 miles now), I would disagree.
