I was going to order the 500, but ended up getting one off the lot that had the 1000. Personally, I liked the fact that I didn't have to go aftermarket, and also that you can disable the trunk subs with a button on the head unit.

I'm sure you can get more power for less money aftermarket, but I really wasn't interested in going that route.

Now if someone would just figure out the AUX input already, so I can hook up iPod up!

Oh no doubt. I never meant to claim anyone was a moron for wanting/buying the Shaker 1000. I only meant to give the OP my opinion which is that I feel the Shaker 1000 is overpriced for what you get.
