Ran into a 03-04 Mach 1 today...
Really
, I agree.
Racing by comparing numbers is B.S. Take away the Mach 1 and make it an LS1 Camaro, or a GTO, or a whatever.
Racing... whether it's stoplight to stoplight or at the strip is the sum of driver+car.
Until we have robots do our driving for us, comparing cars by themseves is kinda silly
Some Mach 1 owners will beat O5's, some 05 owners will beat Mach 1's.

Who's got chips on their shoulders? Only tude I sense is yours bro.
Seems that a higher top speed in the quarter isn 't gonna guarantee you a win anyway...Plus, I've taken out multiple Mach's on sprints all the way to 120+ since I've had mine. I will say this, at least the mach owners I've run up on have been willing to race.
I've had a ton of GT's that wouldn't even play around despite obvious modwork. I vote we all just stick to taking out the ricers and the chevy's and be happy.....

All mustangs are the stuff mustangs are made of.
Each generation has its place.
Ask me the best stangs for racing ever made and I will tell you 79 to 93 - light weight and versatile, Also shaping up to be the unwanted love child of the mustang family thanks to Jack Telnak and his eurovision for Ford. Still though, I must say when a nice 5.0 LX with 2 chamber flows and an off-road pipe rumbles by I get all misty eyed.
As for the 05's - new kid on the block, gotta prove yourself to the old guard. Its the same story time and again. Its happend before - 4.6 vs. 5.0, carb vs, injection, Turbo 4 vs N/A V8, 64-73 vs 79+, 74-78 vs. everybody, etc.
Be there in 2030 when the new mustang rolls out and we will see it again.
I am sorry to add any bit of criticism to this story but no way does a 05 gt hang with the Mach from a standstill, much less rolling. Those cars are setup as a straight line pounder. I am at the track every weekend and have seen 4-5 different 05's get handled pretty easily by the Mach. If the guy was really pathetic behind the wheel, maybe, but even my Cobra plays catch up off the line vs the Mach. A few guys with just tires on their Mach's are consistently running high 12's, the 05's are pulling high 13's-low 14's. If you did, indeed, beat a Mach, don't get overly excited because it probably won't happen very often. Remember, the Bullitt was a special edition Mustang built to handle well, while the Mach 1 was a special edition Mustang built to drive straight- fast...Beware of the Mach...
have you considered some of us frequent both... Read and just don't post as often... Check out some of our join dates.... Either way... as the forum originator said its here nor there and good kill my man.....

I just hope one will run up on me sometime... It'll be a good one either way it goes! That 88' Camry that wanted to run last night baffled me
Nice kill, seems realisitic to me, cars are too close power and weightwise to say one is faster then the other, seems more of a drivers race to me but seems Machs do tend to trap a couple miles an hour higher then new GTs but GTs seem to get out of the hole with sub 2.0 60fts being commonplace
Go over to mach1registry.com and read some of the '05 posts in the genral registry and 1/4 mile drags forums(you may have to register). There seems to be a BIG hostility towards the 2005 there.I guess new kid on the block is a threat.I don't post there anymore.

I think the cars are very very close (<0.2 in the quarter). So much so that magazine racing is pointless. The driver's skill will determine who wins and who loses.

I never got below a 14.0. Yeah, yeah, I know, I couldn't launch my way out of a wet paper bag.
