G35 looks like every other newer car on the road

This rounded hiney trend is making all cars look the same.

It's foreign!

owning 5 stangs just goes to show that you are not necessarily a stang lover. The 05 is the best stang built to date. Sure, some features do not compare to what other cars offer but price does come into play here. The G35 is a nice car but I still prefer the stang.

I think owning a single stang even can be proof enough that anyone loves the stang. IT's a matter of opinion.
Anywho, we're going in for a test drive today, will see how it turns out and will let you folks know.

Just to clear up the whole pricing thing, I went to carsdirect.com and built the following:

G35, 6MT, leather, 19" forged wheels
$32,810

Premium Mustang GT, manual, IUP, standard 17" bullits
$31,945

TOTAL PRICE DIFFERENCE: $865

Yeah, I know no one pays dealer mark-ups, but still, at those numbers the G35 is a much better value for quality and refinement.

what a rough day. well it wasnt all bad but sure as heck was mind numbing. Long story short, we went to both inifiniti and ford dealerships had a chance to drive both. Good news is, wife still loves the GT and so do i, bad news is,...she's still set for the g35. The sales person we were dealing with here showed us a nice, used g35, but it sure was a good deal, so she went for it. we'll take delivery of the car by this week when all the paper work goes thru. I guess im a little diassapointed but my frown turned upside down when she still said that we;ll be placing an order for our 06 later this yr. Hey she can do what she wants with the money she makes but i dont need to think twice about buying the stang with the moolah i bring in.
I drove both these cars and they're both great. I guess it all really turn out well when i'll have the 06GT in my garage in a few months time.

I could care less what the bride drives, even if it's a GTO. I never owned anything other than a Ford or a Mopar. Funny part is, she's never a factor when it comes to what i drive. She could care less also. I really perfer it this way....i can get whatever i want (in financial reason of course) and she won't bother me about it.

The G35 has as much of a history as the Mustang (and even more), not for performance until the 90s, but has been around since the 50s (I believe, i'd have to check to be sure).

Where did you get this? There is no way the G35 has as much history as the Mustang. The Infinity G35 model was first produced in 2002... Ford Mustang has been in production continuously since 1964 ...

^ I think he was referring to the Skyline (which is what the G35 is sold as in Japan). The Skyline started in '55 if I believe, but the first hard-core GT-R came in '68 (if I have my facts straight).

Remember, there is other history than just American history.

Correct. It wasn't '68 though, '69, damn close though.

I think that was the best thing that could have happened!
A G35 Coupe and a Mustang GT in the same garage
I wish I was lucky enough to have those two monsters in my household.

I know about the Skyline; I'm not just a Mustang fan, I own a 240z.
Hardly anyone knows the G35 here in the US as a Skyline.

But even saying that the Skyline has as much history or legendary status as the Mustang is a stretch. The Skyline never has sold as many cars as the Mustang or created such a sensation with the public. The Skyline was not a performance/sports oriented model at all until it got a high performance version about 15 years after it was introduced. It was just a line of ordinary sedans like the Ford Fairlanes of the 50's-70's. The GTR version of the Skyline has only become famous outside of Japan in the last decade or so, and the Infiniti G35 name has only been around about 3 years.

If you want to talk about a Japanese car that comes close to the legendary status of the Mustang, a better example is the Nissan/Datsun Z's ...
