I am trying to decide between a 11 5.0 and a 03 Cobra

Ok three things.

- The 03 Cobra is probably the better moders car ? ( Bottom end and power potential )

- I could get a greater feel of nostalgia with the 5 point oh. It makes a statement as well.

- Most important,.If I do decide 03 Cobra, where are the best places to shop? ( online / mag )

If you are looking for just performance and potential the Cobra murders the 5.0. Nothing can beat the hand built Romeo engines. The rods in the 5.0 are toothpicks compared to the Manley rods in the terminator. You will also save $20k. The only thing I'd recommend over an 04 Cobra would be a GT500.

The 5.0 is the nicer car though if you are interested in interior quality, chassis refinement, options, things like that.

What are your goals?

I kinda want a drop top because I have already owned both coupe and vert mustangs. Vert is just plain fun. I actually like the look of the 03 better than the 11 for the most part.

I heard there was an issue with 03-04 cobra cylinder head cooling ? Is this true ?

Yes.

7 and 8 have been known to melt on sustained boost, like 5th gear to redline type runs. Easily fixed by dropping the trans and installing a "cooling mod" that uses unused plumbing from the passenger side head.

This no knock to you F5 assassin, but we are getting so many of these "I need your opinion on x" threads around here they're starting to need their own subforum....

......but i digress, I'd go with the 5.0

Are 7/8 both on one side of the engine or are 7/8 both cylinders against the firewall? I think I have heard of the cooling mod before made by evan's or something and maybe others as well.

Do you remember hearing any criticism concerning the cooling mod. Seems like I remember people complaining that it would only jeapordize other aspects of the cooling system.

If its not going to be a daily driver, I'd go with the Cobra, you can probably find a decent one well under 25grand. The 2011 won't be so special in 2014 but the SVT will always get its due.

Agree completely. Much respect to the terminator, the original factory supercharged Mustang! Also has better rods than the GT500!

No offense. Personally I just can't deal with 94-04.
Even if it can do magic tricks.

I'm hungry. Can anyone help me decide what to eat?

I've got frosted cherry pop-tarts, peanut butter crackers, nacho Doritos, and ice cream sandwiches.
