chances are you will second guess yourself no matter what. but I agree with whoever said test drive a v6 then test the GT. It will help you out a little with your decision.
When I was buying my car, my choice was alittle easier, the dealer was holding an 03 GT vert aside for me for the winter, becuase I wasn't sure if I wanted to wait. Ford helped me on that decision by delaying the 05 vert. I have xplan, and my cost was invoice on the 03 with a $4 g in rebates. A similar 04 was more, and the x-plan deal wasn't as good, so I took the 03 and the better deal.
I will buy an 06 vert.
So with all that rambling aside, get the GT

I dunno........I'm not gonna argue over 8 hp. Once again maybe it's underrated on purpose.

Haha, I don't think some of you realize how fast even the current V6 is. It's no GT, for sure, but it can hold its own against most cars out there. And I don't know about anybody else, but I see GT's EVERYWHERE. Granted, I don't see as many GT's as I do V6's, but it's not like you're buying a collector's car when you get a GT.

No one here has even mentioned, and I exp. this when I bought my 02 Trailblazer, which is why I now have an 04 GT. First year models are the worst thing to buy. 33,000 dollars for an SUV and simple junk was breaking like taillights...yeah yeah I know..its a GM...but I think thats pretty normal for the first year debute to be "quarky"
At the same time, don't forget, it will be quite some time before after-market mods will be available due to how drastic of a change the body, suspension, engine and everything will be.

First model year cars DO have a high risk factor that can be no fun at all and Ford has had its share of First model year problems.
It's so true:
I'm in the market right now and I was planning on buying a V6 and changed my mind completely with a test drive of both....it's the muscle, the sound, the feel, etc.
Don't compromise, get the V8. Or wait a painful two years for a good deal on an 05+ V8 (that is if the First model year problems are low).

Iven, I totally agree with you, the '05 V6 is the way to go, plus with being 19, the insurance difference will be HUGE. Plus it gives you a chance to drive a faster car, a V8 is a lot of responsibility even at 19 years old.
The V6 has enough pop to get around town, and looks much more refined than the current V6. An as much as we all might like the look of the SN95's they will look absolutely dated once the '05 hits the streets.
So unless the difference in insurance is minor and you can get a fantastic deal on the '04, get the '05. Test drive both and make a decision.

He's 19...
I don't think he has too much money for aftermarket parts, anyway.

I live here in Cary with 19 year olds driving 03 Cobras...I wouldn't be shocked.
Though its so annoying being 27 and just knowing theres was given to them. But im not a hater...just jealous.

The real advantage would be price difference, as I can get a v6 Stang for under 15K where as I couldn't get a Civic Si under 16K.
When I said GT are more rare than v6...albeit I wasn't implying collector car.......however check any dealers lot, and it's almost a 2 to 1 or even a 3 to 1 ratio of v6 to GT's.
There was one dealership that had 80 Stangs, and only 11 were GTs. OUCH that's about a 6 to 1 ratio.

Yeah, but we don't live at dealerships. I'm talking about 'on the road' vehicles. I say I see V6 Mustangs outnumber GT's 2- or even 3-1. But, there are still a BUTTLOAD of GT's out there. And, like Galaxie said, the current body style will look like the Fox-bodies did when the '94's came out. DATED. V8's are fun, and you can really pump up the HP on the GT, but it's not practical for someone our age. Especially a V8 on a Mustang. The word alone makes insurance companies wince.
