Fleet Order
I have a 2006 Mustang GT on order thru my company's Fleet Acct. I originally ordered an '05 in January and never got it, then ordered the '06 in June. Right now my order says Material Hold. I understand Fleet gets less allocations but 9 months is rediculous. The dealer is giving me a great price (under 24K) but they are not too worried about getting me the car anytime soon. Is there anything I can do to speed things up or is there something about ordering Fleet that makes getting this car soooooo slow that they are not telling me? We use other Ford dealers but I don't think they will give me the same price.

I had ordered a 2005 Mustang when the order bank opened last August [2004] for our leasing company through Fleet. It was on short supply until around January when we were told that there was ZERO allocation for Mustang for fleet due to high retail demand. It was then balanced out.
Right now our Fleet news bulletin from Ford says 8+ week delay and expect longer for GT [both T82 & T85]. This is the same no matter where you order as fleet allocation is completely different from retail allocation.
Was the car just ordered thru the dealer's fleet dept or actually in the company name with your fleet number? If it wasn't ordered with the fleet number then it will just be going thru retail allocation.
If you have any other specific questions, you can email me at ISellFord@aol.com.

I believe it was ordered w/ our companies fleet acct w/ our FIN code. I have access to the fleet website and check my order that way. Atleast scheduling is now 8+, it had been 12+ for awhile. Should I just wait it out?

If your dealer is a fairly large dealer, have him order it as a retail order as well especially if he has retail allocation, then take whichever gets scheduled 1st. They can then cancel the other order. If the retail gets scheduled 1st, it can be rebilled to fleet after you take delivery and get the applicable FDAF credit as well as the $450 fleet incentive. At least that is what I would do for a fleet customer of mine.
