Zaino problem
Hello,
The temperature was 73 degrees with 38% humidity and sunny.
So I decided to wash and wax the Mustang.
Last wax was 6 months ago.
Washed with
Z-7 Show Car Wash
Dried with a waffleweave microfiber towel.
Wiped it down with
Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray
Waxed with
Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
activated with
ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
One hour later, while in the sun, I used a microfiber towel to remove the wax.
Now the problem, it was very difficult to remove. Enough so that I won't put on another coat.
It was not easy like last time, ie it was not dusty wax removal.
This time it was dry but hard to remove.
I used 1.25oz of wax, 7 drops of ZFX for the entire car, normal amount.
Even with some Z-6 on the microfiber towel, it was very hard rubbing to remove.
It was not wet, not dry dusty, but dry sticky.
The wax could be more than 3 but not more than 4 years old. The ZFX is 2.5 years old.
None left of the pink Z-2 wax, used it all this time.
Did it dry too long? Is the wax old? Is the ZFX old? Did the sun do something? Was it the towel? Too much applied?
Any thoughts?

Some waxes claim that they can be applied and removed in the sun w/o problem but those are usually the ones bought at typical auto part stores. Most high quality waxes that I have used recommend being applied out of direct sun light on "cool to touch" finish. I would imagine so that the wax has enough time to dry properly and not just bake from the sun
I don't know enough about wax to give you an idea as to why this happened, but I have used some pretty old waxes in the past (2-3 years) with out a problem. I just have always done it on a cool car in the garage or under a tree for shade.
Eventhough it was not "hot" out the cars paint could have gotten quite hot sitting in the sun.

If you applied it in direct sunlight, I'm going with heat being the culprit.
My last detail was done on a 55 degree day. After I washed it under the carport, I pulled my car out into the sun to see just how badly it was swirled. After no more than 30 minutes parked out in the driveway the paint was hot enough to be uncomfortable to touch.
Granted, this is on a black car, but any darker color would be much the same. As a good rule of thumb, never wash or wax in direct sunlight, even if the product says it's safe.

Zanio likes direct sunlight. I have often applied it and it actually speeds up the process. Read their website...
My guess is too old (ZFX) or too much applied.

I've used Zaino for almost 5 years. When I first used it, I had some questions and called them. Send them an email or call. Sal, the owner, was a big help regarding my questions.

Commenting more than a year late...
Sounds like you used too much. First time I used Zaino I just about never got the residue off. I used WAY too much. Zaino has to be put on INSANELY thin. So thin you'd swear you're not putting enough on to do any good.
And if you have any residue, spray and wipe with Z-6. I whip down the car with Z-6 between ever coat. It removes any residue and makes the next coat go on more smoothly. The results are spectacular.
