I've never used Zaino...but I've used EagleONE Wax as U Dry...and that works GREAT!!! Better than meguiars by far...but my car is white...so maybe its just good for my color

White really isn't the greatest indicator on how good a polish is
Black is the ULTIMATE test

I tell people to use NXT. almost the same results, but doesn't last as long as Zaino.
And yes the biggest mistake is using way too much.

I've heard great things about the Mother's Reflections line... I've also used NXT which is very good... but like Boomer wrote, neither of them lasts nearly as long as Zaino.
