Ok, so I went to my dad's yesterday to get my '66 out (I'm storing her in my garage, but I'm pulling the motor and rebuilding it this winter) and put the '05 down for the winter.
I changed the oil.
I put the stabil in the tank and filled her up a few miles before I get to my dad's house. Put the baking soda and dryer sheet inside the car. I needed to get the all my stuff out for work. Open the hood and pull the battery. Here is where it got scary.
When I pulled the battery out the doors were closed. When I went to get my work stuff out I didn't notice anything. The WINDOW was all the way UP. When I went to shut the door The glass hit the top drip edge and slammed passed it into place. It made the most horrific sound. I was sure I broke it. My heart went down to my toes. I got lucky though. No harm, no foul. Not even a mark on the trim.
So make sure when you put your baby down for the winter you account for this.
Just thought I would share this so the rest of you would make sure and not do what I did.

I take all my batteries from my lawn tractor, kids toys and the car(s) and store them in the basement and trickle charge them once a month for 12 hours. I dont't leave them in the vehicles for fear that they will freeze.
Once they do, they are dead forever.

As long as the battery is fully charged before the disconnect its not going to freeze during the winter. At least not my area. My Cobra's is still orginal. Eight years old next Month.
Again, Open drivers door on O5 and up before disconnecting the battery. That way you can use the key to lock and unlock without window problems.

Check out the CTEK battery chargers. Supposed to be a "smart" charger that you can just leave hooked up to the battery all winter and it gives it whatever charge it needs to stay fresh. I don't even plan to take the battery out of the car, just plug it in.
