Removing adhesive residue off of tint?
Removing adhesive residue off of tint?
After the scratch fiasco, the tint shop replaced driver side tint with new and said it is impossible to get all adhesive off and that I may see some from time to time.Well,I see it frequently and it's gettin on my nerves. Is there an easy way to get it off w/out ruining tint??

You mean they couldn't completely remove the residue from the old tint? What? It's not like the stuff is super adhesive or anything. I recently peeled ( should I say scraped off ) purple tint off of a 73 Camaro that had sit in the sun for a good 15 years. The stuff must have been GLUED ON, then baked on, it was just horrible. A couple bottles of isopropyl alchohol and some rags took care of the rest of the residue.
If worse comes to worse, get some goo gone. I havn't met anything that can stand up to it.

I guess I'm kinda confused where the residue is? I figured they didn't retint the window because they wouldn't take the old residue off the glass. If it's not on the glass, is it stuck in the channel liner?
In my opinion, bring them a bottle of goo gone and your receipt/warranty card and tell them to fix it.
My first tint job on this car scratched like crazy, and I had it removed and replaced with absolutely no issues at all, especially a claim that they couldn't get all the residue off.

Its in the channel liner and keeps getting on the new tint. i know its not the new channel liner melting or anything because the passenger side has no issues(It remains scratched because they want 50.00 to do over)They did driver side over for free because it had 2 big bubbles that would not go away.(Ford did my channel liners for free)
I will never go back to that tint place again

I had the tint on both doors removed & re-tinted due to being scratched & the back window for bubbles on 7-25, after the removed the tint I looked at all windows, there was nothing left on them, they were clean with no residue. after the windows were re-tinted I went home & removed the wiper channel & put on MoleSkin strips to keep them from re-scratching.
