I read a report out there from some study that says that new car smell is bad for ya. Supposedly the plastic is "offgassing" or something like that. Personally, I'll take a little exposure to off-gassing from leather and dash vs myself or my buddies.

Try a stick-up under the seat--I was using Glade but the bottle kept wanting to come off so I tried that & it seems to work & no liquid to spill.

I put one of the apples & cinnamon scented Dollar General brand air fresheners under the seat... It work good and only cost 50 cents...
