What do you guys recommend that I buy to get me started? I've decided to use Meguiars products. It looks like there are a couple of different waxes, etc. that they offer. What should I be looking to buy as far as wax, polish, clay bar, drying towel, leather cleaner, tire cleaner, etc. Thanks.

The Meguiars NXT line is the way to go. Stuff works great! The paste wax will last you a bit longer than liquid (because liquid tends to get wasted more often) but they both have the same results. Use a synthetic chamois for drying the car. Only use 100% cotton or microfibre towels for removing the wax. The Zaino clay bar is softer than Meguiars but that is about it. I have one of each and they both do the same thing. Clay is clay, except for Clay Aikin (spelling), I don't know what he is.

The best leather cleaner I have used so far is actually one you buy at a Harley Davidson shop. Same goes for an aluminum cleaner/polish.

Thanks for the ideas. I went to Auto Zone and grabbed some supplies:
1. Deep Crystal Cleaner
2. Deep Crystal Polish
3. Deep Crystal Wax
4. Deep Crystal Car Wash
5. NXT Tech Protect
6. Hot Shine Tire Spray
7. Mothers Clay Bar (no Meguiars for sale)
8. chamois, microfiber polish rags, etc.

I saw the NXT paste wax and think I will get that for the GT. I spent about 7-8 hours today detailing my everyday car, 02 Malibu. NO SNICKERS PLEASE I've never used a clay bar so I figured I'd practice on the bowtie. Started with the car wash and it worked really good. Took alot of the bug juice off the front bumber w/o much effort. Then I clay barred and it was easier than I thought. No problems encountered there. Then on to the cleaner. This stuff removed all of the tar that was on the rockers, bottom of the doors, and rear fenders. The polish and wax went on and came off with ease. No residue either. My car looks as good as it did when I drove it off the car lot. Thanks Meguiars! It was a lot of hard work though. Time for a beer!

Deep Crystal is perfect for beginners. Easy to apply and remove, nice finish and decent durability. And 7-8 hours really isn't a lot of time around here. Just ask the local Zaino users around here (they spend a whole day!).

For your GT, I'd recommend a combination of ColorX and NXT. But if you want your Torch Red to really shine, step up to the Mirror Glaze line:
