Maintaining headlite covers on 2006

On the 05 and 06 Mustang we have a clear plastic flat cover over the headlites. What is the best way to clean and maintain?
I thought about using glass cleaner?? How about the plastic cleaner and preserver? What about lens cleaners (like for eyeglasses)? Help!
You know that they are vulnerable, will get dirty, maybe scratched and what will years of use do? I guess the best bet is just to replace them?
