you can clay bar the windshield and all glass as well as the paint, the clay will take it right off

Windex does make versions of their window cleaners without ammonia that are safe on window tint, but you're right about the original, standard blue windex, not the best choice for cars, especially tinted windows.

For non-tinted glass here is a tip.

Denatured Alcohol or 70% isoprophyl will do, mix 25/50% to 75/50% distilled water.

WE use 25% to75% water to clean glass and monitor screens. use a clean high quality microfiber rag.

The alcohol rapidly evaporates, the distilled water has no lime,etc to streak.

The 50/50 mixture works on dirtier glass/screens,

WARNING; Do NOT SPRAY DIRECTLY ON MONITOR OR LCD SCREENS, spray on rag then wipe using
long straight strokes.
