use a general soap made for use on cars to keep it clean, then put a coat of 303 protectant on it. This is the same stuff the vinyl makers use when they make it. Some people do not like it because if you use too much it causes streaking on the windows ( which can be cleaned off with some windex) . I would rather have the protection on the top and have to clean the windows a bit more often than have the top not last as long.

edit: sorry just saw cloth top not vinyl....never mind.. my bad. just keep cats off the top, they leave hair all over them. LOL

Plus an adhesive lint roller. Works great for removing lint and stray hairs. The cloth top seems to be a magnet for this stuff.

Well first of all lets move this to the "Clean up" section.
Secondly, use 303 cleaner and their cloth treatment.
Or Ragg Top if you can find it.

And double cudos on the lint roller, 3m makes one for auto use, the handle is made like a paint roller, makes it easier to use, IMO, and works great .

You should be able to order Raggtopp Online. The cleaner is good, the protectant makes your cloth top literally bead water just like the zainoed paint!! You can google it -- but this link will get you one place that has it.

Lint roller helps -- particularly if you dry the top with a cotton towel after cleaning. Make sure it is well dry before applying Raggtopp. Also, have some paper to cover rear window and mask areas where you might get some Raggtopp overspray. If you wipe the residue off and put some Zaino on paint it will come off easily -- it is a problem if it dries.

Also -- Black cotton towels work better -- as do black wash rags. That way any lint is BLACK.

WE use 303 cloth top cleaner and a "bug" sponge, foam covered in plastic netting, then let it air dry.
Use 303 Fabric waterproof treatment after drying and apply with a foam sponge on a stick, get these at Lowe's, Home Depot in the paint Dept. they are used for Poly application on stains and shellacs.

Open the 303 and pour it into a cup or container, dip in the sponge brush and "paint" it on the top. Allow to dry 12 to 24 hours before retracting the top, and you are through.

once again, found some great info on this site!

I'll ordering Raggtopp asap as that is a relatively cheap way to protect that material.
