Clay bar kit
I just ordered this kit and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002U...AC_SX110_SY165

I'm sure its fine. I got one in a kit when I applied 5 Star Shine on my winter car and it worked great. Like Glenn says, apply enough liquid so it slides. You'll love the finish.

When claying, remember to 'fold' your clay often, and it if even TOUCHES the ground, that piece is done - throw it away.
Check out the Junkman's video on claying:

I had to clay my 2014 when I got it home last week. Had rail dust it looked like, some larger specs of overspray, and some tree dropping stains on it. I estimate it sat on a lot in Alabama for over 3 months before I got it. Claybar made a world of difference. I will probably get over spray from work occasionally since I work at a shipyard so I will inspect it once a week or so. I park out far from the buildings but a strong south wind on a day they are painting might blow some enamel out there.
I did drop the clay on the concrete twice and it was fine but we have been having so much rain there was probably no dirt to pick up. The clay (Meguiars kit) is at least 10 years old. It has been sitting in a ziplock bag but I squeezed it until it was soft. It still worked great and took all contaminants I could see or feel off of the paint.

It may have looked good at a glance, but id bet it scratched it. And clay that old probably isn't going to do a very good job anymore. Just replace it, the kits don't cost much and a clean bar it's multitudes better.

Well it took about 8 hours but I'm finally done, I stripped her with Dawn, dried, clay bar, washed with Megiurs Gold, dried and than waxed with Megiurs Gold carnauba wax and than polished the rims and exhaust tips. She looks GREAT!!! I will post pics tomorrow

I did not see any scratches under any kind of light either so if any sand got onto it, I must had pushed it farther into the clay and not gotten it on the paint. And technically, you can scratch the paint on your car when you wash it if you're not real careful. It will never be a show car anyway.

I hear what your saying but it did take a lot of red dust off of the car onto the bar and left the paint very smooth. I didn't check it with a plastic bag though. If we get a break in the rain, I might try that tomorrow just to see. I am not sure what I am supposed to feel through the bag either.

As for the clay bar - better safe than sorry. For $20, is it really worth the risk? Trash it and get a new bar. BTW, the best inspection light available is the sun - that one will show you every scratch, mar, hologram, scuff, etc. on your car. Take it ouside around 10am - noon on a clear sunny day and walk around and use the sun as your inspection spotlight - you'll be amazed what you see with that you don't see with other sources!

Clay bars are addictive. I found a couple of spots on my GT that I had not gone over good enough using the Wal-Mart bag method then I decided to clay bar the hood on my wife's Mazda5. Well, I didn't stop until the whole car was done, about 7 hours later. Her car had never been done and though it is garage kept, it is the daily driver she uses to take the kids to school and run other errands. It turned out nice other than the rock chips and things the clay bar does not fix.
