Car Cover - Winter
Car Cover - Winter
Anyone have any suggestions on the best car cover to get? I'd also be interested in any suggestions for winter storage. My car will be in a garage, but nothing but the best for my Stang.
Put it on jack stands, Disconnect the battery, Use Stable in the gas prior to putting it away, Put dryer sheets in the engine compartment and other parts of the car for rodent control, Cover the pavement under the vehicle with plastic to prevent moister from rising up to the car, Don’t lock you car with the drivers door up to a wall(There is no Key hole in the passenger side and this could be bad if you have a convertible because you can't go in thru the trunk if your battery is dead or disconnected). Or just drive it and don't worry.
I hate to say do a search but in this case you will find it helpfull. Just search for Winter in the car care section. You will find lots of advice on how to prep your car properly for winter storage. As for a car cover, get a hold of 05stangkc. The ones he gets are awesome. I have been using mine for 3 years now. Never had an issue with it.
GrnT,
Thanks for the input, sounds like a good storage plan. Luckily, I have two Stangs now, so I'm planning to drive the '99 in the Winter and the '08 in the Summer. My co-workers swear I must be the only person with a Mustang as my "winter-beater", to keep my other Mustang out of the elements.
Adrenalin,
Thanks for the tip. I'll do the search as additional input and touch base with 05stangKC on the car cover too.

I have the CoverCraft Deluxe Custom-Fit cover for my Stang. I chose it in part because it's thicker material can help protect my car from minor scrapes. Since I keep it in an apartment building, there is more foot traffic around the car than I would prefer.
Covercraft has a wide variety of cover materials, if you go with them, you should take a look at this document, which will help you choose which material you prefer.
I have a cover made from their 'TK' material, which I am very satisfied with.

As for the car cover, I actually bought a Covercraft Weathershield HP in September 08. Seems to be working well so far. Of course, the test will be when I go to put it on in a couple weeks now that I have the Steeda spoiler. It's a bit larger than stock and the cover was custom fit for the stock wing.

We got our great car cover from the one and only Mr. KC about two years ago. It still looks brand new and we love it for keeping the dust, dirt and all the shop crud off the CalStang. "RC"
I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
