Wow, another person bashing Mobil 1. It is a wonderful oil and I've used it in my GM cars and in my air cooled '95 911 when I owned one. Recommended by Porsche and I used it all the time. No engine problems and I would call my 911 a 'performance' car. Here I am at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2011 along with other Mobil 1 users.
Please don't spread false rumors about oils. Their oil is fine.

Mobil 1 is a good oil and provides protection no doubt but there is plenty of test data on the net that shows some flaws when compared to other oils ( same can be said for other oils also and the round and round cont. ). People stand by oil like they stand by thier cars. Ford is better than G.M. and vise versa. no matter what you say it isn't going to change. For the masses motorcraft, mobil 1, penzoil, valvoline are all going to work. IMO there is always going to be comparison, ways to find just that little bit that makes one less than the other so those that don't like a product can jump on it's tiny flaw.
If you are following the manufacturers drain schedule then you would be hard pressed to find an oil out today that is going wreck your engine. If want extended drains use an oil analysis. If spending alot on oil gives you peace of mind have at it.

That's really cool dude.
Just one problem, that oil report didn't come from Bob, nor was it written by Bob. You might have realized that if you had been open minded enough to click on the link and read it rather than sticking your fingers in your ears like a child who doesn't like what they are hearing.

It's no rumor that countless tests by users show excessive amounts of metal, indicating excessive engine wear.
It's a common enough issue that Mobil has a full page dedicated to trying to explain it on their corporate web site. Naturally they try to pass the problem off on the driver or the engine, except they never explain why the same driver with the same car gets different results if they use a different oil.

I doubt you'll find too many other oil makers that have a dedicated web page trying to explain why high iron readings in their oil are common.
