Yep, Mustangs! 1967 GT500 Super Snake at $1.3 million, & THE 67 Eleanor GT500 for an even million!

For the life of me, I cannot figure the facination with Eleanor. Gaudy and overdone. On the same vein, that looked like a 250 Testarossa in the background all weekend. Was that a real one, did it go up for bid or was it a replica. To answer my own question, if it was real it probably would have gone in the $20 million + range.

Sometimes movie magic rubs off on a car. People love memorabilia.

I actually like Eleanor. I can find beauty in almost any car that someone takes time and care in building.

I saw that white car too when I went there on Tuesday. It's probably going to be sold at another Mecum auction later this year, like Monterey.

I'm right there with you. It's just a Mustang with an ugly body kit (and it looks even worse on the S197).

At best, it could be called a "resto-mod", and MIGHT be worth $25-30k if the rest of the car is absolutely pristine.

There sure was a lot of talk leading up to these sales touting the values at considerably more than what they got. If the cars were really in good condition and worth more, I would have expected them to show up at Barrett-Jackson. I like watching the Mecum auctions, but I always think of them as the poor man's collectable car auctions. It might have to do with the way they run the more affordable cars in the first day or two of the auction.

When I watch Barrett Jackson I get the sense that they're rather snooty. The Mecum guys are just car guys. I go every year just to check out all the cars, & everyone just seems cool.
