I'm a crafsman tool guy too. Always liked the reverse/tightening lever as well as the push button to release the socket. They last a long time also

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to comment on he rebuild comment for Craftsman tool replacement. I was, until 2 years ago, a manager for Sears. If you ask for a manager and tell them you want a new one and not a rebuild, they will give it to you. If they argue, just ask fir the district manager contact information and their name. The response will change quickly.

I kind of wished they rebuilt mine. I had a 1/4" ratchet break on me and they gave me a new one. What a piece of **** they are now. You can't feel any of the gears engage so you can't get a feel for which direction the ratchet is going.

Sadly, most of the new Craftsman stuff is pretty much crap and Made in China. /rant

Ditto for the tools coming out of the Stanley Division of the Peoples' Chinese Junkworks. I made my living with tools, and Stanley and Craftsman were good, reliable products made by companies that cared about their reputations. Not so today! My advice: if you don't want to pay the ransom for Snap-On or Matco tools, haunt the flea markets and rummage sales, and snag any of their old stuff that fits your needs. It's still out there and still good as new because it was made to last! Older SK-Wayne tools are a good bet as well.
