For sure! Definately would make a bigger impact to your ears if installed in the fronts. Rear speakers are typically for (sound) fill.
In my Tacoma, I have the better quality MB Quart component speakers up front and the lesser 2-way MB's in back.

Ideally, changing out all 4 would be best, then you can work on the door subs next.
Well I went for the EASY install and am doing the rears first, so I will get another set ordered pretty quick.
Couldn't find a wiring harness, so I had tapping into the factory wires, until I can get one.
Any idea which is hot and which is ground?? They are all different colors LOL And no I can't find my tester so don't say use a tester.

EDIT: Found it
Tan/Yellow is - and Grey/Light Blue + on left rear.

Orange/Red is + and Brown/Pink is - on right rear.

Infinity 682.7CF 6 x 8 Speaker Install - Rear Deck

Hardest part to this install was just getting the **** screws out of the stock speakers.

I folded the rear seats down, stuck my feet in the trunk and began the removal of the stock speakers.
1) Pried the Factory Speaker Cover off with a Flat blade screwdriver.
Attachment 6412
2) Unscrewed the (4) T20 Screws holding the speaker in.
3) Unplugged the factory speaker and removed it.
Attachment 6413
4) Positioned the Infinity Speaker and replaced the (4) T20 Screws
Attachment 6414
5) Replaced Speaker Cover (Can't tell it isn't stock speakers from the top)
Attachment 6415
6) Since I could not find the speaker wire harness, I tapped into the stock wires using the taps I used on the DRL Install.
The crossovers were no brainers as the connections were different sizes so you really can't screw that up.
7) Cable tied the Crossovers to about the only area I could find that was out of the way, but still left you room to actually tie it down.
Attachment 6416
Once I get the wire harnesses, I will install them and clean the wiring up a bit.
Next post has a couple more pics.

Install Complete Pics

I can definitely tell the difference between the stockers and the Infinity's especially when you crank it.
I also found that if I place the sound field option to REAR SEATS, it rocks the house like crazy !

Daryl, Nice pics and write-up. Maybe one day I'll swap the speakers out, but after I put in the NAV/DVD.

How do the stock speakers look? Are they the paper whizzer cone type? I took a pic of mine from the bottom (trunk area) and the magnets looked pretty weak.

I've never tried any of the menu features in the Shaker 500 H/U besides 'All Seats'. What's the diff?

I know you can't visualize Daryl being that limber, but I think he stuck his legs into the trunk while sittin' on the backside of the rear seats and used the rear deck as a makeshift table.

Nonetheless, I think he'll be sore in the morning.

Daryl, how did the coversation go with the service Manager this morning?

I've been wondering about that.

Edit: Darn, I thought this would be the first post on page #100.

Well the tops have a permanent grille on them, or at least tight enough I wasn't fooling with taking them off. But they are the cheap *** paper crap speakers you would expect for factory speakers.

I am no wizz here but the sound fields adjust/delay the signal to the speakers creating the effect that the position selected (Driver Seat, All Seats or Rear Seats) is the center of the system. I have mine on Driver Seat most of the time, it sounds better to the driver.

That is correct Bill still very cramped, but I think Tom was referring to the fact hat his VERT has no such fold down seats.

Funny that you should ask Bill.
He had a family emergency, something about his daughter so he had to leave. So no talking to him.
They did get may part for the trunk in and I get it replaced Wednesday, so D-Day is moved to then.
I showed the marks to a friend of mine, that is less picky about his vehicles than I am, and he said he would have been pissed about the wheels too. They are really not bad places, but just enough to **** me off.
Going to take pictures now if it's not too dark now.

No fold down rear seats? No solid metal roof? Sunburned scalp?

And he (and Susan) paid more than us??

(Just kidding!)

Dang! Still on page #99!

That is exactly what I was referring to! Sometimes Bill is a little slow (except when on the go-pedal!). Want to see a pic of my trunk area??

Doesn't matter... the trunk looks the same both ways. Unless you would rather have Susan send you a pic of her trunk with her top down?

Okay, here's my $.02...

Even though it doesn't look devastating and all (even though it feels like it), I'd still be upset at that mechanic. I don't care if the wheels cost $10 or $1000 each, care and respect should be given to each and every car that a mechanic works on.

Here's my point, if I knowingly caused those burr marks, that's something I can accept and live with. But if someone else caused them... I be fumin'!

From your pics and descriptions of the whole ordeal, I have lost faith with that service department. For one mechanic represents the whole service department.

I would attempt to repair those burr marks myself. Maybe use one of those 'soft' deburring tools (hand or Dremel) and tool those areas so they blend in. Like I mentioned earlier, I would not let them attempt a repair on them.

So, Daryl, to answer your question, are you being too picky? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
