PART FIVE OKCMustangGT's Shaker Hood System Install Write-Up
I removed the factory air box so I could cut the new hole. I taped the template onto the air box, center punched the center mark and cut a 2-7/8" hole.
I then filed this out until the tubing supplied fit.
Attachment 2044 Attachment 2043
I installed the High Flow air Filter, and placed the supplied coupler onto the air box. I reinstalled the the air box, placed the other end of the coupler onto the shaker outlet tube and tightened both clamps to secure it.
Attachment 2045
I then routed the drain tubes as best I could away from moving parts and hot surfaces. (Everything is hot under that hood
)
This is what it looked like when I was finished.

So far I'm at the part where you put the upper trim ring down. I was going to ask if there was any play, but you answered me already. I guess 1/16" of play would fix the scoop being off 1/8" on each side since you only have to correct for half of the distance.
What did you use to outline the inner trim ring?
Did you have to bend the dipstick toward the driver's side for clearance?
One thing I saw was the hose clamps... I hate hose clamps. If you can (if you care), reinstall the hose clamps so the bolt is on the bottom and then trim the extra hose clamp. I think that will look alot better that way.

Or, if the hole is not centered in the hood but centered with the scoop?

Hey Tom you still have your write-up on the clear turn signal install ?

Another excellent write-up, Daryl! Makes me want to get one! (.. must resist...)
Tom- Wasn't aware you started on the Shaker project already.
To answer your question, I'd say center the hole cut-out and do what you have to do to center the scoop.

And Tom, when you start your project, the upper trim ring looks to be the key to centering the scoop.

I'm at the part IN YOUR WRITE-UP where you put the upper trim ring down.....
Sorry for the confusion.... I won't start until I hear back from either Mustang Tuning or CDC.

Looking at Daryl's front shot, I'd say as long as the center vertical rib is centered on the hood CL crease, that's the most important cosmetic detail.
The hood (hole) cut-out is secondary, but according to Daryl, can be adjusted up until it's tacked down for good.

I know mine is off center, but it just looks like it should be there. I will try to take a picture later today from inside the car looking out. Looks really cool. (Awesome maybe, Tom?

It doesn't move around like shakers of old on WOT, but it does move around when you hit bumps etc.

Daryl- I didn't see any gap measurements posted. Maybe 3 places along each side and front and back.
This data may help Tom within the next few days.
It will accurately capture an 'IS' condition when installed per mfg directions.

Seems like they could develop this with a lot more adjustments to compensate for either MFG tolerances or installer errors.

Will Z-16 work on the Shaker and trim assemblies to keep it from fading?
Or maybe some regular SPF40 suntan lotion?
