PA Tinted Window Rule Breakers
Just got my windows tinted in June (35% all around) and got a citation to have it removed on Labor Day!! I've got ten days!!! Did anyone in PA ever fight and win to keep their tint? Talked with my eye Dr. today and he had the same thing happen to him and he was told to remove it (which he did). Love PA but their tint law sucks!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated ASAP.

Wow! And i thought 50% was bad here. See if your eye doctor can write you a note saying you need it to protect your eyes.
I've been running around with 25% and haven't been talked to about it at all.

Like stated above, unless you have a medical reason (along with a doctors letter) there is no grounds to fight the ticket. Either pay the fine or have the tint removed...

Yeah but if you pay the fine is that a once and done thing? Or can the same officer/jurisdiction keep giving you citations?

Here around Pittsburgh, I never ever hear them complaining about tint and pulling people over just for that. They might complain about it, but only when it's for some other infraction, like speeding and then maybe.
I'd keep your tint and if you get fined, you get fined. Deal with it. No biggie.
Just my thoughts on the matter, Mustang Freak.-----Bill

Tint can be a very subjective to law enforcement, it all depends on how strict they want to enforce it. Example, a person got stopped in Fl. for Limo on the front windows, argued with the cop. Result was being arressted as a disorderly person and the car was towed. Another is a 70 yr old friend was in Del. with Fl tags and got stopped for his tint. He did not get a ticket but the cop let him know "I know who you are and where you live, I will be watching for you."
Personally I dont think it is wirth the hassle, get it legal. Good luck on getting an exclusion my wife qualifies and 4 doctors declined to sign the form. Doctors dont want to be involved.

Really? In FL they're strict about their tint? Since I've moved to FL from NY I have seen tint so dark you can't see inside the car during the day. In NY we weren't allowed to go too dark with tint so I can understand the OP's feeling of suckage on having such a light tint restriction. As far as LEOs are concerned, for them tint is more of a safety concern than anything else. More LEOs have been ambushed because cars with tint so dark that spots couldn't penetrate it the officer couldn't see them reaching for weapons or how many people were actually in the car.

DarkSide: Punta Gorda is where it happened. On any given day you can be stopped for what appears to be illegal tint. I dont know of any "tint friendly" LEO's on the sun coast, especially at the end of the month when qoutas have to be met.

Yes, they cite the safety issue for officers and I can see that angle of it when walking up to a car. But, I think the biggest thing behind the tint laws is giving the police the opening to go on a fishing expedition.
They pull you over under the pretense that the tint appeared too dark in hopes that they catch someone with a warrant, no license, no insurance, drugs in the car, under the influence, etc.
