2001 Mustang, 3.8 V6...18 inch custom wheels, 245/40's, cold air intake,dual flowmasters, leather interior, 6 cd disk changer, 5 speed, 96,000 miles, payed 11 grand for it. The guy said it has a chip in it but im not a gear head and i dont even know where its located nor what kind of chip. It did have one other owner and on the back of the car it says diablo sport on what looks like a red see through colored piece of plastic made into the trunk with white lettering. All I know is I saw it as my first mustang and fell in love at first sight. This car is fully loaded too, power everything. It looked garage kept with no dents or scratches but was owned by a 17 year old and must have been his toy. When going down the road and u put your foot down it feels like it has more power than any other 3.8 i have driven but were not mustangs, and there seems to be a whistle somewhere around 4000 to 5000 rpm. It does not have a turbo either, wish it did! I did manage to top it out once and was scared as heck.. 4 people in the car and was running 140 and had to let off. BTW a friend of mine says he thinks it sounds like something has been done to the cam but he is not a gear head so I just took it with a grain of salt...He had a 94 or 95 stang with either a 4.6 or a 5.0 cant remember, and he says that mine is quicker than his when it was stock. Oh and it seems harder than it should be to shift, is this normal as he said his was like that.. I need to find out what is in this car for mods/upgrades...what do I need to be looking for? Im sorry as this might be too much to ask but I love this car and want to expand on it, so any help would be appreciated..Thanks!

Sounds like you got a nice ride on your hands! My old car (2002gt r.i.p.) and at around 4500-5500 i had a whine/whistle sound as well. It could just be the gears really spinning but not sure, never figured it out myself. As for te cam sound my brothers v6 (2003) has the same thing but everything is bone stock on the car. Turned out his muffler had some small holes in it, might wanna check ur car out for that.
Im sure someone else will come along and tell ya whats wrong eventually haha

Congrats on your first stang! I still miss my first 2004 mustang GT! I loved that car more than the next two, 07 and 08 GT! Have FUN with it!
