When I go to Wally-World, Target, Mall or anywhere for that matter I park as far away as possible and get a little excercise!

This happens to me no matter what car I drive. The parking lot could be almost empty and I'll have cars around me, wtf!

 

I double park backed against a fence cause with as much money as I spoil my mustangs with ill be damned if someone's gonna damage them by not paying attention opening their door

 

That's right brother. Not only that,......I think sometimes it is done on purpose because of jealousy.

 

I can't believe that, that would be pretty sadistic.

 

What happened to gangreen's car I think was on purpose. Sadly. Idk who could swing there door open so hard, and so carelessly.

Had a professor that drove old clunker station wagon Volvos and said he would purposely park his rust bucket right beside new cars!!! Arz hole!!!

Well the OP did say it was very windy and that can always pull doors wide open pretty fast. Unless youre holding the door then its gonna fling open not caring whats around it

 

I have had my car for a week now, getting a much better feeling for it. I still go head first into the parking spot, but I figured out a trick for it. I aim for one spot further to the spot I wanna park, full turn as if I want to park there, back up and then forward into the spot I want, it has worked out pretty well so far. I tried practicing backing into the spot in the company parking lot during weekend, still screwing up left and right, I'm gonna keep working on it.

I'd hate if someone dings or scratches my car too, and hope those ppl burn in hell for that. Parking in the remote area of a parking lot with no or few cars around isn't an option for me in bay area. The company parking lot is full as hell, my apartment doesn't have assigned parking, which sucks, and it's packed too by the time I go home. So now I always look for the nice, clean looking cars that appear to be well maintained, and park beside them. I think the drivers of those cars have a much higher probability to be careful when they park or open their doors, than those of some run-down cars.

 

On those rare occassions when I park in a lot I always park front in first to protect the most expensive part of the car in case some idiot hits me and always leave plenty of room to prevent door dings. One thing about driving my dd Focus, I can park that thing anywhere. Who cares?

Nose in or out is different every time depending on the situation... but ALWAYS if possible, corner spot. one ding instead of two!

 

Corner spot, far away, if possible next to another nice car (I have a co-worker who drives an M3, I'll park next to him if my usual spot is taken).

I have zero dings on my car after almost 10 months of ownership. My wife has a few dings, and a new one just appeared last week. She always park close and doesn't even care about what she parks next to.

Her car is a very nice, fully loaded nissan rogue (2011), I'll have to get a full detail when she's ready to upgrade next year...

Needless to say, I'm glad she's "uncomfortable" driving my manual mustang. Last time she drove my car was last August.
