Insurance

Didn't know exactly where to post this.

What does everyone do about insurance? My policy excludes basically any track events, other than driving to a track to be a spectator.

You can buy insurance specifically for running track days, but I haven't bothered with it. I just don't take anything on a road course I can't afford to wad up and walk away from. If it isn't paid for, I don't risk it.

By far, that. It's like the stock market or gambling.* If you can't afford to NOT have the money/car, then it's nothing you should risk.

/ * - Perhaps needs a different thread, but what's the difference between these two?

Having insurance has nothing to do with being able to pay for your car or any repairs. What about the personal injury aside from property damage aspect. I personally would rather pay an extra grand a year for insurance than pay out of pocket every time I might crack up my car.

Ok, then look at it this way: your insurance won't cover you if you're reckless (in their opinion) with the car, and run over someone or their property. They're just coverin' their butt, and they see racin' about as a liability they don't want to even be involved with.

So if you're ok with paying for the loss, whether that's your car, another's car, property, bodily injury and/or death, out of your pocket... go have fun.

Did you happen to miss the point of my post? I'm asking about purchasing additional insurance to cover what my current insurance company (USAA) won't cover.

"Don't argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Nice. Well, before I exit this thread and wish you all the best and such after that last part... Your posts say nothing until the 3rd one about purchasing *additional* insurance.

So yes I "missed" the point.

But hey. We're all mind readers here, so my extreme bad.

If you go onto www.yellowbullet.com there is a guy on there that sells insurance just for the racetrack.
