Gap Insurance, extended warranty, alarm

Gentlemen,

Im picking up my new 13 GT tommorow. When I was signing the paper work from the finance dude he tried his hardest to sell me gap insurance, extended warranty ($2000) and some kind of alarm.

Do you guys have any opinion or knowledge of gap insurance or the alarm?
Whats a good price for the warranty? Did you guys get it?

Thanks, Looking forward to being a member of the stang club.

John

Anything that finance guy tries to sell you is a scam. If you can finance elsewhere, it's better to do that unless you get 0%. If they offer you 2%, that means they are actually getting it for 1%. Finance folks at dealerships are Satan on earth bro.

I agree get the gap but not the gap ins. If you have a good down payment you shouldn't need the gap ins.

You should be putting at least 20% down and then the gap insurance is irrelevant.

And Satan wishes he was as bad as the dealer finance guys.

Gap is good, I got it through my regular car insurance gal.
It makes up the difference between the payoff and the cash value if it is totaled.

Bag the rest.

Have your insurance provider set your insurance to the dollar amount of your vehicle new. And screw the gap insurance and anything else the sales person/finance person is trying to sell you. remember the dealer makes up to %75 profit on items like gap insurance, wheel insurance, tire insurance, extended warranty etc.
Why do you need a extended warranty on a new car that is under warranty. you don't, another way the dealer makes a crap load of money.

If you didn't get gap insurance you're an uneducated moron who shouldn't be car buying without a mentally stable adult by your side. Lol I'm joking of course with the insults but u always get gap insurance. Extended warranty is worth it if you keep the car past the 3 year 36 month warranty but useless if you mod and tune the powertrain.

Don't need to say anymore about the gap that hasn't been said. Ford does have one of the best factory backed extended warranties IMHO. you do not have to buy it when you purchase the car, the Ford extended can be purchased up until the factory warranty expires. I have used the warranty on two explorers my '99 and '06 ( 1 tranny, rear wheel bearing, a/c clutch, radiator, front sway bar mounts, alt, starter, front wheel bearing, rear diff seal and a few other things) both had over 100K when I got rid of them. I had the extended on a few of my other fords and didn't really use it, to me it is insurance. Both my '08s have the Ford extended I'm worry free for 7yrs ,100K so far so good ( My '08 explorer only had a leaky shock replaced and noisy belt from a bad tensioner, done under warranty) remember they are machines, stuff happens.

you can negotaite the price but I have premuim care and it was just under $2 grand. You don't have to get premuim care, this is the top warranty so it costs the most. xtra care is the next best I don't bother with the basic. some argue the value but it is a personal choice. My mothers old LS had an engine noise that got worse. I told her it sounded like it was in the lower end. lucky she had the extended, lincoln put a motor in it. she had it serviced by them at normal service times and this was the only thing that ever happened to it, weird but it happened. my brother has it now and she has 190K on it, just over 50K when they did the motor. it is a total crap shoot, like I stated I had a few cars had it but I never used it on but then again I never used my car insurance for years on end either.

Had to run out for a few but also wanted to add.. The warranty is also transferable so if wanted to sell the car yourself and it had some of the extended left you can use it as a selling tool since the new owner can be added. If you trade it in, just fill out a form at the dealer and ford esp will prorate the remainder and cut you a check.

Depends on the state. Florida sets the rates and they are not negotiable. Mine was around $2,300.00 I intend to keep the car ten years or more, so it was worth it. I am even thinking about extending mine to 125,000 miles. However, unlike my wife's Honda Odyssey's similar coverage, the Mustang carries a $100 co-payment for every claim.

Standard is $100 co-pay, you can get $50 and zero co-pay but the plan price is different. I have $50.
