I have a pair of belt-fed 1911s mounted in the grille, and I can aim them with a handy iPhone app.

 

In the warm weather of South Florida, cargo shorts pockets work well.

 

When i'm in the Stang i put my.45 between the seat and console so i don't put a whole in the leather.. I wish i could install a mount there to hold it..

Mine is always on my person..never in the car. I always carry mine in my ankle holster (wearing long pants) or in the front pocket of shorts. Part of my instinct training as a police officer was to "always carry in the same place all the time". Should a situation arise, instinct will take over, you don't want to have to hesitate and think "where did I put it this time". And of course practice, practice practice!
