Battery choices...

After 7 years, the battery of Lauren Renee has gone kaput.

If you recently replaced your Mustang's battery, what brand did you buy and why?

I have an Advance whatever they sold me, lifetime warranty, and I am unconcerned. I will definitely NEVER buy a Motorcrap battery for the Mustang. I would buy one for a '97 Thunderbird, that one lasted the lifetime of the car. The Advance that's in mine now has lasted longer than all three of the Motorcraft ones I've had.

Go figure.

A battery is a battery, for the most part. Oh sure, there's the Yellow top Optimas, and all kinds of others, but really. You just want a decent battery.

The lifetime replacement is the thing to get (as the idea is... you shouldn't need to use that a lot, or they'd lose money, right? You don't see Ford offerin' those on the Motorcraft ones...), then the CCAs, higher the better. And clean those terminals.

I jump started the car today and took it out to see if the battery would hold a charge.. this time I backed it into the garage to make access to the engine bay easier.

As far as the terminals... they are clean... as is the engine bay...

I picked a new one up from autozone I think its a 8 yr warranty for around 100 bucks. Pick up a battery tender from first choice = sears second choice would be the one from autozone. If you park your car for longer than a week get one your battery will last a lot longer.

Duralast Gold from Autozone

The original '07 Motorcraft battery died, due to a leaking case around the ground post. I replaced it with the highest cold cranking amp battery that would fit the carrier. I've never had a complaint with Duralast batteries. I think it cost me somewhere in the vacinity of $108 (with tax) and after core deposit return.

I bought a Ford battery from the dealership about 18 months ago. Very pleased overall plus they had a great refund going at the time, bringing the price down to very reasonable. Under $100. Free replacement the first 36 months and pro-rated through 100 months. Impressive! I'm sure they run those specials every once in awhile. I like buying Ford parts and the originality aspect of ownership as well.

installed the Odyssey today, 1250 5 second cold cranking amps! works great so far. Then started taking the trunk apart to remove the 2 Xs power S1200 batteries , going to put them on charge and see if they will take and hold a charge.

I ended up getting a Motorcraft Max battery with a great warranty through my mechanic. They also checked the Lauren Rene's electrical system for a parasitic drain, none found.

I know Optimas been around and used by a lot of people. Some like yellow, but I like the red top for my replacement.
