Got to have the manual. Makes hitting the open road more fun.

I haven't have a stick for 10 year and it has been really depressing.

I had to have a manual. Even if it is slower.

I have the manual ordered and have a GT 03 automatic now. I can hardly wait, 74 days and counting.

Autos are for girls, real men drive standard.
This lady prefers a stick.

In my opinion, all cars should have a manual transmission and rear wheel drive! Makes for much more fun and gives the driver complete control of the car. Of course, that could be a bad thing in the case of those who can't drive! Guess that's why there's both.

Edit - I am in no way saying that if you chose automatic you can't drive. Obviously I've never seen any of you drive to know. However, I've tried to teach a few people to drive a manual who should definately stick with the automatic!

My Mach is a Manual, sometimes I wish it was an automatic, like in a long Car Cruise. I did the Woodward Dream Cruise Parade and thought my leg would fall off from the keeping my foot on clutch. We only moved every couple of seconds, and no use putting her in neutral as soon as we did we would move a couple feet again. Even the young guys were complaining afterwards, about there legs hurting.

pathetic...I never drove a manual. I have an automatic Olds, that used to be my mom's and i'm thinking of getting a Mustang. I must be missing out on all the fun huh? My sister used to have a '94 Stang manual until last year, but that was before i got my license, i'm that young.

Welcome to the forum

So which transmission do you prefer for a Mustang?

Earlier in this thread you will see I chose the new 5-speed auto
for my 05 GT after much agonizing....

Now, the more I hear about its performance the more I
look forward to it.

I also am a young pup in my early 20s. My father recently just taught me how to drive a stick with no problems. Now after have driven both an auto and manual...I am still going with the Automatic (which I ordered on my '05 GT).
I know I may make a bunch of enemies for saying this but this is just my opinion.
I understand why most of you like the control and fun of a stick but it just seems so outdated to me. Going from an automatic to a stick is like stepping back in time and driving an old fashion car from the 40s, it seems primitive to me. With new technology and as well as auto transmissions are being made now, it's a no brainer for me. I also agree with previous posts, everyday driving in traffic is AWFUL in a manual. No need to make sitting in traffic anymore annoying than it is.

People at work make fun of me for having an auto in the '05 Mustang. However, they can laugh all they want in their '92 Geo Metros as I drive my brand new sports car home.

I took my GT, a manual, into the shop today for some prexisting body work.
They gave me a Focus loaner an automatic. Took it onto the highway and the first intersection I came to, I nearly ate the dash. Put my right foot on the brake and the proceeded to put my left foot on the break. Always a little hard to jump from one tranny to another.
