Auto or Manual?

Some one said, you would have to change the clutch every 50k miles...WHAT?????!!
My truck went 110k miles and wasn't even close to needing a cluth
BTW, I think it's easier to drive manuals in rush hour traffic too....
the bottom line is, AUTOMATICS SUCK

When I originally ordered my 99 GT vert it was with a manual tranny. But I wanted to keep it for a while and I thought about the degenerative arthritis in my left ankle affecting the pleasure of driving it. Also, although most of our former cars had manual trannys, my wife enjoys driving an automatic. So I changed my order for an auto. In the end the auto has proven to match our driving style. We are more cruisers than racers, especially enjoying a mild spring day together tooling down a winding country road with the top down and those cool stereo sounds coming from the twin exhaust pipes. Life is good.

B) Shifting is cool B)
Autos are for girls, real men drive standard. And remember that a shifter is called standard because for 80 years or so, it was the majority of all cars made. Automatics are really only common since the 1970s. I do not know if they are the majority yet.
Just like I "dial" my phone...
I will drive a standard....

With manual, you can also look like a dork rolling back and forth at stoplights. I'd never give that up.

yeah even on a hill i dont roll.
Say im on a hill stopped. Im on the brake let go of clutch while on brake then gas and no roll back. In real its a normal fast process. It doesnt matter anyway. Rolling slightly isnt a bad thing, unless you have a tailgater on heavy traffic on a hill. I just wouldnt want to be behind you.
I dont have to roll to prove I have a stick. Its a bit noobish IMO.

Ever averaged 200 miles per day as a delivery driver in LA rush hour (and of course that "hour" is from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and from 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm) with a stick?
Auto is for women. Auto is no fun. Auto is illegal for a sportscar. Fine. Talk to me about it when we're pulled over on the 405 and I can't drive because of muscle spasms in my left leg. Call me a whimp. Sometimes your environment dictates!

Trust me, I'm very experienced in driving standard and NEVER roll.
And who are YOU calling a Noob?
Though I haven't seen you drive, I'd be willing to bet I could outshift you anyday. Downshifting into curves, accelerating through the apex, double shifting...etc...you name it, I can do it.
And IMO, you need to read people's posts more carefully and lose the attitude.

Weren't GM's F-bodies like that? Cost 780 extra for the Manual I think. 'Course, it was the 1-to-4 lock out 6 speed... Dunno if that lock out was the reason....
